Yeah, that's right, she's already the big 5-0 and I'll be there in a few short months as well!
Anyway, it made me think. We were 8 when we met. She came to live with her aunt who happened to be my baby sitter. We hit it off and have been friends all these years. That's like 42 years now! wow! How long have you and your best friend been friends?

My best friend and I met when we were 5. We lived on the same road and both had got invited to the neighbor boy's 5th birthday party in the summer. We had a connection right away and we were inseparable. We've had our tiffs over the years and times when we didn't hang out much, but we always came back together. now we are both 28 and raising our kids. We live 8 hrs apart though so we don't get to see each other as much as I would like. We are trying to put in the effort to see each other a few times a year. Her family still lives here so I get to see her when she comes home to visit them and then we take a road trip and go visit her at least once a year.

Well. I have a few best friends and some really good ones.
My best friends I have had for 29, and 2 friends for 22 years,
A few of my good friends I have had for between 11-13 years.
My best friend of almost 30 years and I met when she and her mother moved into the same apartment complex as us- they lived a few doors down. And we hit it off even though she was a few years younger than me.. And we have been close ever since..
My other 2 best friends, One I met working when I was 20. she is a year younger than me but our Birthdays are only 2 days apart. maybe that is why we get along so well..
And with her help I met my other Best friend who just happens to be my ex-boyfriend from 20 years ago.. lol.. she helped me stalk him and meet.. It was a fun time back then.. But 21 years later he is living in my house renting a room.. we lived together for 7 years then went our separate ways. Then He need a place and I had one- so he moved in about 6 years ago..
It's great having 3 such good friends for all these years because we can all hang out and share some of the same stories.. I love nostalgia.. I only wish we can turn back the hands of time.. :-)

...Hi macdingolinger, Great question. My best friend and I have known each other since we were in our teens. We used to work in the young people's office at church, and have been friends in sight and out of sight, for these many years.
In fact I have to call her after I stop posting. She is just a bit older than I in numbers, but I am older than her in experience in a way. She is the nicest person and a very gentle soul, she has put up with my strident opinions in some instances but we get back to the middle and keep our ties in tact, thankfully. Take care.

Wow! I've known my best friend for about 12 years now. Which seemed pretty long to me. I tend to lose touch eventually with most people, but even though sometimes my best friend drives me insane, we've always kept in touch.
In our running group people get really excited about birthdays ending in zero, because that means you've bumped up to a new age group. :)

Happy Birthday to your friend. Congratulations to the two of you for being such good friends for so many years. I moved away when I was 12, and I kept in contact with a couple of my friends for about 6 years after I moved and then I lost contact with them. The friend I have been friens with the longest is about 26 years, which is still a long time, but I still wish that I had a friend that I have had since childhood.
