When is the last time you really got a good night's rest?

After tossing and turning last night, I finally fell asleep close to midnight. But when I woke up this morning I defnitely felt refreshed! It's a great way to start off a morning, and before last night I don't know when the last time was that I had truly slept well. How about you? When was the last time you slept so well, even if the quality of the sleep was better than the quantity.

Hi AmbiePam If I didn't take sleep aid pills then I would have a terrible time of sleeping at night. I am able to go to sleep but I can't stay asleep. I would have to say that last night was not a bad night. I only woke once and went right back to sleep. Hope you have a good christmas and as always keep smiling.

When the doctor would give me sleep medicine, it would do one of two things: knock me out so long I would feel groggy the next morning, or not have any affect at all.

The dr. put me on AmbienCR and so far it seems to work. I sleep good thru the night and when I wake in the mornings I don't feel droggy at all. The trick is to that is that you take it at least 30 minutes before bedtime and sleep eight hours.

I took Ambien and it made me sleep walk. I got in my car and drove around the city at 3am. I almost went into a ditch, went over a curve, and hit a stop sign. The next morning I thought I had had a weird dream. Until I walked outside and my front headlight was hanging out. I still only recall bits and pieces of that night.

I am not sure when that was. I am glad you had a very restful night last night, because that goes a long way to eliminating pain.

You're right GardenGerty. I have such a good bed, one that a person in our church gave me. His elderly parents bought it, but after a month decided it wasn't for them. So he told his parents about me and my health problems, and they wanted to give it to me. But even my bed sometimes doesn't help my back, so I was so glad to sleep well the other night. And last night too! I am extremely thankful that last night was another good night's rest.

That was last MOnday. I went home at 6pm after work. I usually going home at 8pm or 7pm the earlier after work. But since just last Sunday was our Christmas party, i was too tired to went to the office last Monday and I planned to go home as early as possible. I ate already and I did not watch television when I went home, what I do was to lie on my bed and close my eyes. I totally gave in to sleep at 8:30 pm. When I woke up in the morning I was very refreshed and I felt stronger. I even played with my kittens when I woke up, we run around the house. I felt I was energizer. Based on my experience, we really need a complete sleep to be able to perform well for everyday. Just last night I slept at 10pm, and now I am little energize and excited in posting responsing.

Hey Ambie! I have no idea when the last time I got a good night's sleep, if ever! I would give anything for at least one! I sometimes think I am getting one, but when I get up I am still exhausted! I think it might have something to do with my meds, but am not sure! I have serious Insomnia and I just can't sleep through the night! My problem is waking up every hour and then having trouble getting back to sleep sometimes! And if I really can't sleep I get up and walk around or try to read! If that doesn't work I end up tossing and turning and staring at the clock! And then I stay in bed most of the day to make up for my loss of sleep!

I used to have insomnia too. It was before I was diagnosed as being bipolar. I once went four days and nights without any sleep. I didn't know what to do with myself.

Before I had a kid... Once you have children, you can more or less forget having a good night's sleep for the next twenty years or so. If I just get uniterrupted sleep, that is s major acheivement - to actually have a good night's rest seems just like some sort of unatainable goal...

What a coincidence that you post this discussion today because last night was the first time in at least 6 years I have slept more than 5 or 6 hours. I was pretty tired from all the Christmas broohaha and my Oncologist check up (good news) that I actually slept for 9 hours. Boy oh boy do I feel great today!

I'm so glad you got good news! I actually slept well last night again. I was surprised, but happy. I only woke up once because my dog wanted under the covers. lol

Hi AmbiePam! It's been a while since I really did not have a good night's sleep. Sometimes, I have to sleep late so I could work on some papers but have to wake up early the next day because I have to go to work early. There are also times when even if I sleep early, have to wake up the next day. I think I have been used to this routine that sometimes I do not even become THAT happy when I get to sleep for eight or more hours. Anyway, I am lucky because I have been sleeping for more hours since Saturday night since I do not have to worry about waking up early at least for the next two weeks. This is so because I am off work for that long. Yipee!

Hi, AmbiePam, and Merry Christmas to you and your family. For getting a good night sleep I can say lately I have been sleeping good at night. For some reason a few months ago I could not sleep well at night. Then I started studying the Word of God, doing devotions and attending church regularly and the sleep started coming. I am saying God was trying to tell me something. And He did. Now I am sleeping like a baby at night.

You know, you're right on point. I notice that when I'm spiritually in step with God, sleep is a lot easier. And on that particular subject, I have certainly been neglecting my devotions lately. Although I got to go to church last Sunday! I was so excited. It was the first time I was physically well enough to go since October. My parents were so glad to see me there.

This past Sunday night I got a really good night's rest. I work night shift and usually work about 5 nights a week, so I'm usually pretty exhausted. I don't often have more than one night off in a row lately, which makes it hard to ever really catch up on my sleep. This past weekend I was off both Saturday and Sunday nights. I slept well Saturday because I was so exhausted, but Sunday was really the day I enjoyed my sleep! I wasn't so exhausted that I didn't move (and therefore woke up with a sore back like I did on Sunday morning). I just had a really great sleep and woke up feeling very refreshed! It will probably be another few weeks now before that will happen again, but I'll be looking forward to it!

for me I think it would have had to be about 8 years ago. Since I moved and got a new mattress I have never been able to sleep well anymore. I just can't sleep well on a hard mattress but i really don't have any money for a better one.

I am here on Christmas Day doing a couple of posts, and I mean only a couple, while I wait to get ready to go and see my mother and sister. Last night I decided to sleep in today with it being Christmas and all but no, not to be; my daughter was up at 5.45 to open her presents. I can say that I was having the best night's rest I've had in a long time until she woke me! I just needed a couple of extra hours....

Hi ambiePam: there was a time when I found it very difficult to fall asleep and I would read a book for a long time sometimes even after midnight. But since of late, I dont know why, I fall asleep very fast. After reading a page or two I find I'm reading the same thing over and over again, which means I am sleepy. Its actually a nice feeling although I do take a longer time to finish my book. Falling asleep easily means I get up refreshed and ready to take on the world. That means a lot, I can tell you.

I think the last time when I slept throughout the night after a year(yes after a year) when my husband offered to sleep in the toddler's room, otherwise he has a tendency to wake up atleast twice or thrice at night
