Okay, I'm losing it, I think...thanks Willy!

I'm sitting here blowing a few minutes posting on the Lot when I noticed the Christmas tree moving. I didn't pay too much attention because Abby likes to lay under the tree and she will either scratch or move positions. I looked up and the angel was moving, but again I ignored it figuring it was Abby. Then suddenly the angel began to rise. Slowly but surely it rose from the top most branch of the tree. I was mesmerized, figuring that I was seeing things from being so tired. (I got a total of two hours sleep in the past 36 hours because of taking my bf to the ER) The angel slowly rose to the ceiling and then started to shiver and shake her way down the tree, with the tree swaying and rocking. I was still mesmerized watching the angel.... The angel disappeared on the back side of the tree...but the tree was still swaying and shimming. Then, suddenly the angel landed on the floor and raced away at break neck speed! Man I had totally lost it!!! NO, WAIT A MINUTE!!!! SINCE WHEN DO ANGELS HAVE A LONG RED FURRY TAIL??? I got up and followed the angel and the tail. The angel finally stopped in the work room, and after I turned on the lights I found the culprit...Willy had very carefully climbed the tree, worked the angel up off the top branches and worked it down the tree and hauled a$$ with it into the work room. I'm not too sure why he wanted it so much, but I had to give him credit for tenacity! He does have a big fascination with the tree this year, so the theft wasn't a total surprise, just the way he did it. What ornaments have your cats made off with?

I don't decorate.. There are simply too many animals.. They would surely knock a tree down smash or eat all the ornaments.. I notice that my cats "give" things to the dogs all the time to destroy.. So then of course the dogs get in trouble and we all think the cats are angels. :-) I am on to their little game..hehe.. This morning I came home and found a wood handled steak knife on the floor of my living room. I forgot that I had left it atop the microwave. I know only the cats would jump on the counter and for some reason throw the knife to the floor - and the dogs found a new chew toy.. I was just grateful that I didn't find an animal gutted an bleeding on my living room floor when I came home.. I think I learned my lesson.. ALWAYS remember to put away the sharp objects.. They WILL find them!

You also need to be careful that the cats don't get irked at the dogs, can you imagine coming home and the dog having a lump on their head from the cat knocking a pot or pan off the counter on the dogs head? (LOL) Khuay is great at knocking things off the counter and watching them fall on the floor. I come home and get to clean up paperwork, pens, batteries, knives, forks teaspoons (I have them in a spoon jar and that darn cat will fish them out of the jar and bat them on the floor!) and whatever else takes his fancy. The one thing I did through the past 9 years is to buy acrylic ornaments. I had gotten a fiber optic Christmas tree as a gift and since it had a color wheel I thought it would be cool that I have clear acrylic ornaments on it. I do have a few crystal ones but nothing that is so delicate that they would break in a fall. Last year Khuay took great delight in removing the ornaments from the tree. He would climb up in the branches and lean out, pull off the ornament and then drop it on the floor, watching intently as it fell. Then he would move to the next one. It took him a few days to un-decorate the tree and all I had to do is wrap them all in their tissue paper and put them away. This year he isn't interested, it is just Willy and the angel.

Oh, my cats are well trained in how to throw stuff off the counters.. I think it is passed down from generation to generation.. This is a story from last year http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1717842.aspx I have another good one too - I'll let you check this one out first..

I can't recall which cat I had that did it (it was a long time ago), but one tom was just completely enamored of the silvery icicles, & would pull them down strand by strand--& eat them! I didn't realize he was doing this until I started seeing sparkly poo in the litter box! He was okay (the vet did say it would probably not harm him), but he had me worried for a while there, anyway. Plus, while no visitor remarked on it (probably too polite), I was continually afraid they'd notice the poo & ask, Why on earth have you decorated your kitty litter box; isn't that taking the Christmas spirit a tad too far?" I don't use tinsel for that reason, plus I always seem to have the luck that the cat will have it stuck in in butt and a poop on the other end...then they will hop through the house like a frog trying to get it lose!!! I did read that the old style tinsel would hurt a cat as it wasn't a polyurethane base but more of a tin base and they would not only have the possibility of cuts to their intestines but also poisoning from the tin alloy. At least it makes cleaning the litter box a little more cheerful in the Christmas season but it's worrying about how much tinsel that they eat at a sitting that would be a big concern. It has to be a mind blower to look in the litter box and wonder what they were eating. We had two Rottweilers that were so much fun when they were puppies. It started when they were about 6 months old. We had a contractor giving us a bid on our patio and were standing in the living room talking when Rocky had gotten a hold of their leash and chewed the hook off. Then he carefully chewed it in half and gave his sister Kitty half. They chewed it into 1 foot sections and proceeded to eat it!!! Of course it came out the next couple of days, but it was a mind blower to see them pass a blue webbed poop! Then I noticed that the poop I was picking up looked odd and found that they had eaten a zipper. A few weeks later I found screws in their poop, then cat toys, and a sock (one of my Mom's). It took them about three months to get past eating strange things, but we had a lot of laughs at their strange eating habits. When I was a teenager I made a "catnip mouse" for one of our cats. It was out of flannel and was about 4 inches long by an inch wide. The cat ate the whole thing. We got to witness his passing the cat nip toy a few days later...in one piece no less!!! He actually grunted while he was passing it!!!! LOL! I'm tempted to make one for Willy and Khuay for Christmas, but I am afraid that they might do the same thing. I will wish you a Merry Christmas, but will probably be on the lot the next couple of days and will be able to say it then. We had to put off opening presents until later as Bill was going to do his Christmas shopping yesterday (Tuesday) but was soooo sick from the kidney stones that he couldn't do anything but moan. He is hoping to do it Monday or Tuesday. I figure we'll open gifts on New Year's day. It's a relief to me as I am trying to finish a quilt for him and with spending the night in the ER last night and being so tired today I immediately was behind schedule. Plus I am making him four pair of flannel boxers for when he rides his motorcycle in the winter. Anyhow, I will chat more later tomorrow. I need to crawl in bed as I have a DR appt tomorrow early. Take care and enjoy your Christmas magical bounty (the bags of canned goods--I was thinking maybe someone moved out of your building and left the food beside the trash. I have found wonderful things beside my best friends trash dumpster. I got chairs, end tables, tv carts and more.

Yeah, that I'd read about. At least it makes cleaning the litter box a little more cheerful in the Christmas season lol Ooo! Sparklyyyy! LOL! Maybe you could win 1st prize! When I was a teenager I made a "catnip mouse" for one of our cats. It was out of flannel and was about 4 inches long by an inch wide. The cat ate the whole thing. Good thing he didn't need an operation! Anyway, it's better than one of my friend's little poodle. That pooch would--I swear--eat razor blades! I don't know where he got them, because Jennifer's a neat person, but he would get one sometimes, & of course it was a swift rush to the vet! He was quite a funny little character, though. A wonderful playmate. I've never been into small dogs, but Charlie was the exception to a lot of my rules. I will wish you a Merry Christmas, but will probably be on the lot the next couple of days Not to worry--I'm Eastern Orthodox, so our Nativity begins in a couple of weeks! (snip) Bill was going to do his Christmas shopping yesterday (Tuesday) but was soooo sick from the kidney stones that he couldn't do anything but moan. Yeah, I read your post about that. Poor guy! I have found wonderful things beside my best friends trash dumpster. Yeah, Elic thought as much, but I was scandalized! Who throws out perfectly good food?! Mind you, it's a welcome addition to my minuscule food budget, but it could have simply ended up in the city landfill! They should have taken it to a food bank, or maybe left it at the front office. But, as I don't believe in "luck," I see it as a special Christmas blessing! On that note, have a Happy Christmas, & a Merry New Year, LB! Maggiepie "SAY 'MERRY CHRISTMAS!'" What an energetic boy! You go Willy! Rygel is the only really interested in my tree and he's not one to get into the front room where the tree is, so, so far, no racing ornaments! you get the first laugh of the day

hi loverbear wow willy is one smart cat.we had a dog who was fascinated by the bells we had tied on the tree. so she would go over, touch the bells with her nose and they would ring of course, and she would stand there and bump them again with her nose, and more ringing . after awhile her nose bumping caused other things to fall off the tree so we move the bells up where she could not reach them. oh dear, now we had done. she would come and whine loudly and long so I just took one of the bells off and just gave it to her, she managed to make the thing ring too. she took it off into the bedroom and laid down and went to sleep with the bell safely tucked between her front feet.

That sounds like quite a nice experience!. It also reminds me about a scene I saw in that movie 'Gremlins'. It seems like you have a little gremlin in the form of your cat!. I wish that I had some kind of angelic experience for real at Christmas but then it's probably wishful thinking on my part! All said and done it sounds like you have a cute cat that is very playful! Merry Christmas! Andrew

We use the plastic ornaments...but they look like the glass ones. They also bounce!!! One of my cats (Baloney) likes to go after the ornaments, get them to fall off, and then start slapping it all around while she chases it. She gets out of control sometimes. Can't blame the cats...the tree looks like one big cat toy!!! all lit up with shiney things dangling all over. It must be hard for them to resist. Merry Christmas!
