I dreamed someone gave me some sheep. I've raised cows, pigs, dogs, and cats,

but sheep would be different. Not sure why I dreamed that, but that does sound interesting. They don't have double stomachs (I don't think) like cows and they don't eat everything like pigs. So I would definitely have to research them to know how to keep them-even just to feed and water them correctly. Have you ever been given any live creature that you did not know how to take care of? What was the situation and how did you learn how to take care of it/them? I doubt anyone would give me sheep. I have seen a free goat now and then, but not sheep in the newspaper. Have you ever had sheep? I've never had them, but I've visited someone who did. I like the lanolin in their fur, the wool for clothes if washed correctly (not with chemicals to make them picky), and the way they say, "Baaaaa." Do you like farm animals? Have you ever kept any or visited any?

What an interesting dream. Maybe you should consider a goat so you won't have to mow the lawn. I have always lived in the city so am not familiar with raising any kind of farm animal. Actually have only been on a farm a few times and found the animals to be interesting. This didn't happen until I was a teenager.

Goats eat a lot more than grass, your shoe laces, your hair (why most people get minitures, so they can't eat your hair like the tall ones-just don't bend down around them), I watched one at the 1812 homestead strip a red raspberry bush bare. This was a bush with thorns, all the leaves and all the berries, gone. If you have a goat, you have to be extremely careful or you won't have anything else. the goats were trying to get their heads through the wooden fence at the 1812 Homestead to try to eat what they could of the plants in the garden. Next year, they will either corral the goats better (but visitors love them so) or they will do a double fense, one a few feet before the other one. They were trying to eat squash plants and once damaged, often the entire plant and all the squash die. My husband had worn shoes with laces the first time we went. They were so hell bent on eating his shoe laces, he had to take them out, but while trying to do that, they tried to eat his hair. Luckily I was wearing slip ons without laces. There is a reason why goats are occasionally given away for free. Someone said use a rope and tie them to a stake. If it's edible, they'll eat the rope! Even if it isn't, they'll try. You have to watch out for injury and poisonings, too. They try to eat everything!!!!!!!!!!

Now I understand why a goat is not an option to be a family pet. Thanks for being so informative.

True, if you think about it, Mountain goats, esp., they have to eat whatever is there and probably have to graze full time to stay alive. Can you imagine a goat in the house? Eating the drapes, eating the throw rugs, eating your mail, . . .etc..

Do you play that Farmville game on Facebook into the wee hours of the morning and go off to sleep dreaming of your next strategy? I have been given a lizard once to take care of while a friend was out of town. I followed their instructions and the poor thing lived through the ordeal. I still wonder if I fared very well though. I was a nervous wreck the first few days as I recall. Llamas make great packing animals and I hear their fur makes wonderful sweaters and such. Never saw sheep for sale around here either. Ofcourse we have alot of basces in this areas so they probably use them all.

Yes, they do eat lots of grass. Maybe they wouldn't be too hard to raise. But the dream was at my old property with lots of fields. Here, I have lots of trees and a small garden. Would never work. Thanks and take care.
