Have fart, will travel!  

Yes, it is true that you can light farts and it can cause serious injury. Over on my other farting discussion, two people said about their husbands lighting farts in the army and the navy, and the victims being hospitalised. And I thought servicemen were in danger from the enemy. I suppose it's another example of friendly fire!

It's the methane that's flammable, and it burns with a blue or green flame. That's in my book too!

I come from a family of farters, and we need the book with the farting facts to answer back when people complain about the aroma around us. It helps to blind them with science, and while they're thinking about it, you can slip in another one!

Farts are made up of Nitrogen, Hydrogen, Carbon Dioxide, Methane and Oxygen, in descending order of quantity. Carbon dioxide is the one that makes the smell linger, apparently.

Hello, Diana. I suppose it would depend on how wide the road was and how fast the fart was travelling, plus of course, air conditions. It's probably made up of several variables. We live by the salt lakes, where the air is very dry, so I'd think they'd whizz along for quite a way here! Some people think farting is just vulgar, but it can also be very educational, as this discussion is proving already!

Farting, like many other things, are vulgar when done in the wrong situations.
Sneezing all over the place is worse surely as that spreads germs.
I don't think farting does - but I have never considered it before this discussion to be honest

Hello again, Diana. Yes, farts are hygienic, because the colon is acidic and any bacteria that do get through are harmless. That's also in my book!

All that air release obviously clears out the brain cells, allowing more thinking space. I too am an active member of the farting club - in fact my husband thinks I'm too active sometimes.
