dear friends, this friend from india had a wonderful experience that he shared with me. they enjoyed new year at home till late night and slept around 2am. the kitchen door and guest room door was open. when they woke up in the morning, they saw the milk, eggs in the kitchen scattered on the floor and the bed in guest room soiled with pee poo of cat. Have you ever had any similar experience? did you have any guests? How did you celebrate the new year? ann

dear professor, my house is under renovation now and we have problems with cats coming from neighbors and they pass by the window not being closed as yet. usually the cat creeps in at night when am asleep but thanks to my very alert dog, she makes them leave just after they enter. happy mylotting. ann

Well, I havent had a strange cat visit me in the middle of the night. I have my own cats and one of them sleeps with me. I was on vacation for New Years Eve. I was at Penneshaw, Kangaroo Island. We went out to a hotel for a meal and there was a band to follow. I had chicken snitzel with chips and sald. It was very well done., Then we waited for the band to start. They were a blues band. After listening to two songs, my daughter said she didnt like it, so we went home.

dear jenny bianca, that is great, being on a vacation is wonderful. i guess if the band were playing something faster or lively, your daughter would have loved it. anyways, i hope you enjoyed it there. have a nice day. ann

Hi ann, and a happy new year to you. I just spent a quiet night at home. We had a big thunderstorm, but it was an enjoyable night. Mike.

I would guess that they got a visit by a male cat, mostly what we see are mice and they get into as much as they can, poop and pee on everything. We try to keep them out.

No, we do not leave doors or windows open so there is not chance of any pests making a mess of our room.

dear vanillarey, asians are fond of old time beliefs, like during new year you are supposed to open the doors and windows for the luck to come in. that probably was what my friend had in mind. theirs is more on the rural side hence people are much trusting and thievery is not so much of an issue. i guess that is what happened. and instead of luck, it was the cats who came in happy new year! ann

Hello Ann. Happy 2010! LOL, unexpected guests so often find their way into homes. I remember seeing a large black snake beneath the sofa once when I was a child. We all screeched, and of course, my mother came running to try to get the snake back outdoors. It slithered quickly away, and we don't know to where, but we never saw it again. Twice, when I lived outside the city, birds have gotten into the house...I have no idea how, and once, a bat. But all were safely shooed back outdoors. Karen
