Would you rather have an avatar than your true pic online? why?

I'd much rather use an avatar, mainly because they're much cooler to look at than a picture of myself. That, and the whole privacy bit, is pretty much why I don't put my real picture up. I like to remain relatively anonymous. lol

hi Jenaisle, I'm using my own photo right now and I'm thinking of changing it. hahaha! I like to be a little discreet. I'm still thinking what avatar to choose. Oh... I saw that "cute little angel" on your profile, I might use my niece's photo.lolz That would be so cute.

I don't think posting your real picture is a good idea. I would rather have the avatar and I use my books most of the time....that way it's a little exposure but doesn't reveal who I really am. My kids also don't want a bunch of pictures on the internet of my grandkids.....well that is what they had said then I see on facebook tons of pictures of the grandkids....oh well!

because I am a shy person and less social, then I put animation picture or cartoon. I would use my real photo but I think my photo will be ugly and does not deserve to be exhibited.

Avatar for sure, as I would rather not place a real picture on the Internet. I would not want to scare small children, animals, and senior citizens with my face. I am not the most pleasant person to look at. Not the worst, but I have a face that's not very photo friendly lets just say. It does not matter what avatar I use. The one that I am using now would be fine but there would be others that I have used.

I like my own shadow :-) I don't really like pictures of myself but on the other hand I haven't yet found an avatar I feel represents me so I usually go for a picture in which you can see me but not really see what I look like. What I really need is a picture of me on my horse with only my helmet sticking up over his head, but it's a bit difficult to take that myself :-)

Sometimes I use my pic and sometimes an avatar. Here I use the default one still, though I've been thinking about changing it. Sometimes I use a picture of ponies, which I love. Originally I was very nervous about using my own pic, but I got over it to an extent.

No I would never use my own picture for my Avatar. I would not want my picture online anywhere because I'm one of thoses who hates for my picture to be taken. I like my Avatar because its colorful like me.
