I live in a Village and the main road through the Village is right outside my Door, at Night I get annoyed at times as the Idiots are out with their cars and either you hear their music or they are revving up their cars and have this loud exhaust which actually make the Windows shake and wakes me up as they can be out there till 3am and it is so annoying
The Road is only narrow and they race on it like Idiots
Well last Night I went to bed at 10.30pm, it was heaven, there was no traffic at all, it was lovely and quiet, this Weather is keeping the Maniacs of the road which I am also pleased about as my Car is parked on the road, all it would take is one of them speeding along skidding and hitting my Car or someone elses but lucky enough they have sense to stay in and of the road in this Weather
In the Summer it is really bad as they are out there most of the Night and then on top of that Motor Bikes to
So the Weather is good for something lol even during the Day there is not much traffic and normally it is a very busy road

i undertand you should need peaceful living and avoid anything interrupt your life.my life is different with yours.although i live in a village, but it is quite and nobody can go out at night, but it is too quite to worry about the safety problem at night, sometimes i heard about something was stolen and make me worry.so i think that the life is perfect as what we imagine.we should change myself rather than change surrounding.

Enjoy the peace while you can.
Maybe when you move the new place won't be on a major road?
In the meantime, that is one good point in favour of snow.

I also have a main road going right by my bedroom door.....and it does get quiet around here with the bad weather. Today we are having a blizzard so the traffic is also down....I saw on the weather channel a bit about the weather you are having. They showed a doctor going to work at a hospital on skiies!

I have thought how much pleasanter the roads are too. Here most people are at home and go out and throw snowballs or actually talk to each other. The cars are piled high with snow and look like sculptures. I sort of hope that it could stay like this. Before the War I am sure that all towns and villages were like this. The car and the mobility it brings is wonderful, but is has a lot to answer for too.

I know exactly how you feel, gabs! I used to live on a main road and the constant noise drove me batty! I'd have to have a fan or window air conditioner on to drown out some of the noise. In the winter, I had to have an air filter or something else that made a constant noise to help me get to sleep. I'm a very light sleeper and have been my whole life so any noise would wake me up, unless it was a constant noise like a fan or something.
I now live in the mountains, in the country, back on a private road. We normally have very little noise from cars or people so it's heaven compared to living in the city. But, even living here, there is a noticeable difference when it snows. Maybe it's because the birds aren't chirping or the occasional, distant sound of a car or train is not heard but I love it when it snows. I like going outside while it's snowing and just listening to the snowflakes landing, the soft, peaceful sound that you just can't get anywhere else.
It's always good to try to find the bright side of any situation. I'm glad you found it with your weather. Enjoy it as long as you can! I would say that I hope you have much more bad weather, just for the peace and quiet, but that seems somewhat counter-productive.
Now, make sure you have shoes or boots with GOOD traction before you go wandering out in it! I don't want to read that you've taken another tumble!

I took your last mishap for you, just today, a few hours ago. I just got back from the hospital. Idiot me, I had to go to my car to retrieve my cell phone, which I had left in it last night. My husband was going to call me to pick him up from where he was taking his truck to have the brakes fixed. I went outside to get the phone without my coat on and it was around 30F, so I was hurrying to get back in the house.
I slammed the car door on my middle finger.
Of course, it HAD to be my left hand! (I'm left-handed.) I have a big ol' bandage on it now, with only my index finger and thumb free to use. So, if you see some spelling errors here, you'll know why. Well, the bandage is only part of it. They also gave me Hydrocodone for the pain so I'm feeling pretty good at the moment. LOL
We're going to be getting more snow starting any minute now and continuing into tomorrow. At least this time, I have a great excuse not to shovel any of it but I was hoping to try out our new snow blower. Guess I'll have to wait now.
I hope you can find a nice, quiet place, away from the worst of ther noise. If you can't find anything, consider moving here. We have plenty of room and it's really nice and quiet, so peaceful, at leasdt as lonf as I'm not smashing fingerrs in car doors.
Plus, I know that my girls and your Gissi would be great friends!

We got another two inches of snow. The traffic on our road is very limited now. No trucks. No cars. That is nice. OH! Wait!!!
Here come the snowmobilers. They go across the yard and make a lot of noise. So much for the quiet.

No wonder u mentioned moving in another one of your discussions. I wouldn't want to live in a noisy neighborhood like that either. I live in a nice quiet cove w/just 4 houses & we don't get much noise at all.

Hi Gabs,
I hate that, wheere I used to live before in LOndon I got all that and you couln't leave you car outside without it being broken into, but since moving here it is very peaceful, I don't hear any traffice at all or human voices, its heaven here as I live in a quiet cul-de=sac and lots of trees around me, all I hear is the birds, big defferent from horrid London. Love and hugs.
