do you ever take you engagement/wedding ring off? | | | | I just got my engagement back from being sized and I can't help but take it off sometimes, because I don't want to lose it or mess it up sometime. I have placed a jewelry box in my bathroom and i put it in there when I take a shower, and I have a ring holder by my kitchen sink for when I do dishes. I also take it off when I sleep. Are you supper cautious like me or does your ring stay on your finger all the time? | | | | | | | | | | Pearl Jewelry Tahitian, Black& South Seas Pearls All With A Lifetime Guarantee www.MauiDivers.com

| | My ring stays on all the time with the exception of when we go 4wheeling. If we just went for casual rides thru the woods i'd leave it on... but when you get me on one of those things, I look for the deepest mud pits around - I want to see how big of a splash I can make running thru the river - and those are the kind of times when if it falls off, its gone forever. Other than that, its on constantly. I love looking at it. I love knowing that its there and I love the meaning behind it. The only time my husband takes his off is when he's working on our vehicles or welding or something like that. Its more of a safety concern than anything else. | | | | | | | Ambitiouslyleiah (335)

| | I'm not superstitious about many things, but I wouldn't take my ring off unless absolutely necessary, as I would feel like it was a bad omen. I did have to take it off when I had my children by c-section and had to remove all my jewellery, but their dad put it back on for me afterwards as he feels the same way as I do. I don't know why it makes such a difference who puts it back on, I know it sounds strange! | | | | | | | Ambitiouslyleiah (335)

| | It doesn't sound strange... if thats how you feel, thats how you feel. Im just afraid of messing it up somehow and that would just kill me, so I take it off every now and then but then when im done it goes right back on my finger! | | | | | | | Jewelry Stores Directory Looking For Local Jewelry Stores? yellowpages.com | add comment | | | |

| | I take my rings off when I am cleaning and doing certain things like swimming. I don't think it is good for the stones to be submerged in water for extended periods of time not to mention that I would never be able to find the stone if it fell out in the water. There would be at least a slight chance of finding it if it fell out on the ground, although of course I would hope that the stones would not fall out at all. I also do not think that certain chemicals are good for the stones or the setting, so it is better to take them off when I am cleaning, especially when I am using chemicals. | | | | | | | Ambitiouslyleiah (335)

| | My parents have been married for close to sixty years now, so that means that my mom's engagement ring is at least sixty years old. She used to wear it all the time, because she is "old fashioned" and believed that once it was put on her hand it should never be taken off. The only exceptions, of course, are when she went into the hospital for surgery or to have each of her children. After years of wear, though, the prongs holding the diamond must have loosened, because one day she lost the diamond. I don't think I was even born yet, since I was born a lot of years after my siblings, but I remember hearing the stories of how my mom cried and was upset for days. My dad knew it was an accident, and he tried to console my mom, but she was just too upset to listen. At that time, my parents were doing a lot better financially then when they had become engaged and gotten married. My dad had always wanted to buy my mom a larger stone for her engagement ring. He thought that my mom deserved the biggest, most beautiful diamond that he could find, but he couldn't afford a very large one when he proposed. He thought he would take this opportunity to do what he had always wanted to do, and he told my mom that he would go out and buy her a new, larger diamond ring to replace her engagement ring. That snapped my mom out of her depression, but not in the way most people would suspect. She got angry and said that he would do nothing of the sort! Instead, they would go and get a new stone to fit the ring that she already had, because she would not trade the one he originally gave her for any number of karats that other people might have, and that is what they did. Now, both of my parents always wear their wedding rings, but my mom does take her engagement ring off to do certain things. They also take it to be cleaned at least once a year, and while they are having it cleaned they make sure that the jeweler checks the prongs to make sure that the diamond is secure. | | | | Ambitiouslyleiah (335)

| | ahh, that is a great story. I like that your mom didn't want to give up her original ring. My ring is pretty cheap, and I know that. When my fiance got it for me he actually did not buy it to be a engagement ring, he bought it to present to me a promise to marry me and well sorta like a piece offering because we were not together. It was what I had wanted for probably over a year, just a simple little promise ring, and I thought he just didn't want to put a ring on my finger, when I think he just didn't want to put a cheap one on it... haha. When I decided to come back home to him because it hurt to bad to be away, a couple days passed and then he asked me if I would marry him. Maybe he intended for the ring to be my engagement ring the whole time... I need to ask him this! Anywho... I don't know how I will feel years from now but we have talked about getting better rings later down the road, I think this is a good idea because Even though I love this ring it came to me in a hard time in our relationship. | | | | | | | The Jewelry Exchange Diamond rings $99, 1ct Solitaires $599 Buy Factory Direct and Save. www.JewelryExchange.com | add comment | | | |
