Things that happen can be so WEIRDLY coincidental

Doghouse fire - My little fire.

Last week my mom received a text message from my sister saying two of her neighbours homes had burnt down. They had to be leveled. Cause: a heat lamp in a doghouse. My mom and i got talking about the fact that just before christmas my dad had put lights in our doghouses (40watt bulb in a regular light socket bolted to the roof.) My mom figured they were fine because they are bolted on not just hanging on a hook. She commented that in the past they have been knocked down because dad just hooked them and the dogs are dumb and just push it into a corner. I hung out at my moms for a while and started getting a tad paranoid. I decided to go home and check. Well it was foggy and it took me while to make the normal 5 minute drive. I pulled into my yard and went hmmmm i SWEAR theres fog coming out of my doghouse...wait the light isnt on...C R A P my doghouse is on fire! So...i took pictures...then put it out. It was just so weird though that the same thing happens to me that leveled someone elses house. Has anything like that happened to you...something happens to someone else and you get worried about it happening to you and it actually happens.

hi saundyl oh yes a long time back we had gone to help a neighbor put out a brush fire. My dad and grandad took off some place. my mom and I were alone on the farm. and we kept smelling smoke and I said, oh look there's fire somewhere to the east of us, then my mom said, oh no thats too close, oh my God its on our land, our east pasture is on fire, all of it. needless to say we got shovels and sacks and dashed afoot down the road, by then my dad and grandpa were home and were busy with shovels too and wet sacks. we finally got it out after it had burned all the alfalfa that was dried out and two railroad ties, that was not supposed to be burned, it got out of control so we had the volunteer fire department finally. the railroad company charged us a fine of two hundred dollars for the two bu rned ties. lol. this was when I was in my teens, long time back. Our neighbor whom we had helped was the one to call the fire dept and to help us stop it from burning anymore of the railroad ties. he he he he

hi yes seems its not legal to burn stuff on railroad right away ,but my dad fought this and won as it was not a fire set on purpose but a wild fire out of control so he got all his money back. actually the railroad was on our property but the land just on the tracks and either side belonged to the railroad company.

I had a something happen to me the other morning that another MyLot user posted about the night before. I had no premonition, but I do feel that I need to start a corresponding discussion. I think in the case of your dog house you may have been tallying up the facts subconsciously and that is why you became uneasy. I am glad you could put the fire out, that you got home on time, and that hopefully no dogs were injured.

Hey saundyl! OMG! First thing, are the dogs alright? And how absolutely scary to have the very same thing happen to you! It is just a good thing that you went home to check! I wonder what made that happen? Why would the lightbulbs catch on fire to begin with? And how did the house the burn down? And were the neighbors and their dogs alright? This is very upsetting to hear! I just hope that everyone involved in the fires were able to get out safely!

Well from the looks of the holder for the bulb...my larger dog sat and chewed the plastic until if fell of...onto a blanket and caught on fire. The little one isnt quite tall enough to chew that high up! My dogs are all fine...they were sitting on my deck staring at me when i got home. The other fire...my sisters neighbours two people were injured but everyone lived.

Wow that is sure one heck of a coincidence but I am happy that you came home in time to save you dog house because so many things could have gone wrong .I mean the dogs could have been scorched alive and in addition it may have caught something adn else resulting in a big inferno

Yes they could have...and with the doghouse right beside my house i could have lost my house. Lucky for me i didnt...and all three of my dogs were all sitting on the deck watching the fire when i got home so none were in the house.

I definitely agree that things can happen in an oddly coincidental way. My friends and I started to really notice this not too long ago. We would be talking about someone or just randomly say someone's name and they would just happen to be walking by or something like that. I remember being at open mic night at the coffee shop my girlfriend worked at and this really intriguing man came up to me and my friend and said "Notice the coincidences" and it really made me oddly drawn to him. I think that the coincidences are just a reminder to show us all that we are connected whether we choose to accept it or not.

That's weird. Yes, weird coincidences did happen to me in the past but I could not remember specifically what, except my statement, "What a coincidence!" Things happen to us for no reason and without warning. I guess that's life.

Personally I think putting lights in a dog house is the dumbest thing in the world, and I'm not saying that personally. I'm saying that as a general term, because realty happened. Regular bulbs are not made to scale to fit into a dig house safely, especially with a "dumb dog" (that is to say dogs do things that hubans are smart enough not to do) in there. I hope all have learned not to put lights in doghouses. But yes it's always strange when something scary is seen on the news, and then a person experiences it themselves.

I think that some of those "dog heat pads" could cause a problem too. I will say that i do consider my husky to be dumb...mostly because he eats EVERYTHING electrical. He's eaten the extension cord by the wall while i'm around the corner using it with the weed wacker. He ate my solar lights batteries and all...the block heater cord while its plugged in. If he wasnt so...terrible about eating all thats electrical

Hi, saundyl. Nothing like this has happened to me not that I can recall I can understand you being freaked out. I mean it actually happening to someone else, and then it happened to you too. Maybe you just picked up a vibe that was trying to warn you. I hope that your dog was okay. I am sorry about this.
