My husband made some book shelves for me.

They are very simple and just attached to the wall. They can be taken apart and reused later on.
So today, I'm happily sorting books to keep and books to sell at a yard sale later on.
Not sure if this belongs under frugal living, but it was the closest I could find.
So has anyone made anything useful for you lately?
Do you think making some things is cheaper than not making them?
In this case, it woul be hard to find shelves of different sizes to work. It's in the upstairs bedroom with a slant ceiling (other side of the roof). So he had to cut every piece to fit. I love my new shelves.
Anything new that you love right now?

How sweet your husband really is. He did this for you. How sweet! For me, the thing that i love right now is the thought that someone is there for me, willing to wait for me and persistently cares for me. He gave a pair of sandals last Christmas. I found it so sweet. I promise, I'll take care of it no matter what happen to our relationship. :)

We both have sweet men in our lives, lucky aren't we?
Hope the sandals and the relationship lasts a long time.

I hope so. If it happens, I could really say "It's worth the wait.!" because for 5 years I haven't into intimate relationship, I wish this time I could say he is the only one.

That's cool. Isn't it great to have a handy hubby? I'd be having him make some wild scroll stuff.

You should be very proud of your husband. He deserves to be recognized for a job well done. You are lucky to have a husband who has the gift of carpentry abilities. I wish my husband could do even simple repairs but he really is not gifted when it comes to hammering and the likes. . . It is good that he can afford to pay carpenters to do those carpentry jobs at home. LOL
Have a good day.

Oh I am very proud of him and very happy with my shelves. Now I can tell him that people on the internet are proud of him, too.
It really is neat having a handy husband. Saves $ and you get exactly what you want.

No one has made anything useful for me recently but I recall when my ex-husband made me an office by putting up a wall in our basement. I chose this god awful color of pink for the room and when we went to paint it had to lighten it alot. It was a nice room. Making some things can turn out cheaper. It just depends.

I haven't had anything made lately but I have been wanting a few shelves too. I want one built over my washer and dryer to hold my laundry supplies and I would love to have a big one made under my picture window that I could put some plants on. I do think it's cheaper to make things sometimes and it's even a better quality sometimes too.

My first hubby made some custom shelves for our first house, and there was no way that you can buy what he made. Making things is always cheaper, in my opinion. Nothing new right now for me. I have a website I want to try to sell some books on soon. After I work on freelance writing.

My husband and his Dad built some shelves in our first apartment. They were deep enough to hold the T.V., computer, aquarium and books. When we moved he took the shelves apart and re-built them in our duplex, using a slightly different configuration to fit the new space.
Then we bought a house and the shelves came with us. Some in the house for the computer and the rest in the garage for storage. When we needed the computer room for a child's bedroom, the shelves came down and were added to the garage for extra pantry space.
I'd say we have gotten our money's worth out of the lumber for the shelves. Hope your's last as long.

That's sweet.
I don't think anyone ever gave me furniture when I was dating. Goes to prove that you've very handy to have around. I hope she and her family remember you fondly, too.
