Well not exactly but a new law in South Carolina has gone into affect recently that requires subversive group to register and pay $5 to be in the state. Now I do not wish to go into a whole first amendment debate here but just want to have some fun with this. Okay you are part of a group that is classified as a subversive group under this South Carolina law. You want to overthrow the government, probably cannot get more subversive than that. So the idea is these groups are going to register with the same government that they wish to overthrow, and the big kicker is it will cost them $5 to do it. Why would anyone think this would work? http://rawstory.com/2010/02/south-carolinas-subversive-activities-registration-act-force/

My state can sure come up with some duzzies. I had not heard of this. Thanks for letting me know. Gee..wouldn't that mean the republican and democratic parties would have to pay it. Not to mention all the lobbyists, corporations and special interest groups in this state that buy off our elected officials? They sure are "subversive". As for the $5.00...it is soooo laughable.

Thanks for the BR. New Skit for Pinky and the Brain Pinky : what are we going to do today Brain. Brain: the same thing we do everyday....plan to take over the world But we are going to start by getting $5.00 and taking over South Carolina. Don't know if you know who pinky and the brain are. They were a cartoon in the 90s. But they always plotted on how to take over the world. It alwasy started the same, with those openging lines...I just added the SC line into it.

I am very aware of Pinky and the Brain, and yes if anyone is going to have to pay five dollars those two mice will need to.

Intersting and stark contrast...My state constitution states clearly in article 10 that: "[Art.] 10. [Right of Revolution.] Government being instituted for the common benefit, protection, and security, of the whole community, and not for the private interest or emolument of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, whenever the ends of government are perverted, and public liberty manifestly endangered, and all other means of redress are ineffectual, the people may, and of right ought to reform the old, or establish a new government. The doctrine of nonresistance against arbitrary power, and oppression, is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind."

Well that does sound like a great idea. Everything I have read about New Hampshire, NH is my kind of state.

lol, come on up and help us save it then! As mass creeps northward, we stand to lose all that. Check out the free state project, make the pledge to move and come on up.

What a laugh. I suppose if you really wanted to be subversive, you could register a whole bunch of non-existent "subversive" organisations with false names and addresses (to confuse the cops and the beaurocrats) and pay the fee with forged notes (to help crash the economy). Count your blessings though. In South Carolina, the government taxes terrorists. Here in Britain, we give terrorists ministerial positions in the government of Northern Ireland, as long as they promise to stop killing people.

Become a terrorist get a government job, that sounds like a good career ladder. The only question I have is becoming a government minister of something a step up or a step down for these former terrorist.

Hard to say, really. Obviously you get good pay and loads of perks as a minister. On the other hand, you do have to wear a shirt and tie to work - personally I'm more comfortable in combat jacket and jeans.

these a UK comedian called Mark Thomas who makes comedy out of the stupidities of British laws. Especially amusing was the one requiring registration of demonstrations around the parliament.www.mcdemos.com and links therefrom
