Dog grooming   

We have had poodles and a Kerry Blue all who needed clipping so I brought the equipment and learned how to do it. Who knew this would lead to the rally big jobs of clipping Llamas. You never can tell what learning a new talent will lead.

I have a shetland sheepdog. It requires moderate maintenance regarding grooming. I have learned how to groom my dogs by visiting breeders and watching dog grooming videos. It is very easy after that you have been lectured to and know how to do it the right way. You also required the necessary equipment such as scissors, the right combs and burshes. For example for long coated dogs such as shelties and collies a bristle brush is ideal to brush their coat.

Oh, I wish to have professional groomer to come to my house and do grooming for two of my dogs. They need haircut so badly, however it is very costly. I have to spend $80 for their grooming.
I do their grooming only once or twice a year.

my pup (maltese X shi tsu) has had her hair clipped in the past, mainly just for summer though. we haven't really had a consistent groomer, always had different ones, but usually they come to us! =]

I guess I'm lucky that my dog never needs his hair cut. I am able to bathe him myself, so I never have to take him to the groomers. My sister and brother-in-law have two dogs, pretty big dogs. They got them both at the pound, so they have no idea what kind of dogs they areally are, mutts I guess. One of them has hair that gets so long! In the summer they end up taking her (Jill) to the groomers about three times. Once, my BIL went to pick her up at the groomers, and when they gave him his dog he denied it was his. He told them they gave him the wrong dog. But they hadn't! It was just that the change in appearance after her fur had been cut was a striking difference!

I use to have my dog groomed maybe twice a year by Petsmart and the rest of the time I would do it myself. Since moving to New Mexico I have groomed my own shih tzu "Cody". Its alot of work but I try to cut and bath him every two months and comb his hair everyday. I also cut his nail myself. It alot of work but it saves me money by doing it myself.

Please, do your groomer a favour and use a COMB! Brushing tends to give you a false sense of security. Unless you get right down to the skin, poodle fur gets matted easily and should be clipped off, rather than wait for the poor groomer. If you are having them done every 8 weeks, you should be fine. Maybe try a slightly shorter clip, to reduce your work. THey can still look mighty cute in a #3!

I've never had a dog that turned into a walking afro after weeks without a haircut. That's sounds extremely cool to me. If their small enough, you could put them on your head, walk around like it's the 70's or something. I started a rumor once that Hendrix used a snouser named puddles for his fro, because he could never make his hair grow out like that for real. It never caught on because most people lack a proper imagination.

My mini fox terierr is short hair so there is definitely nothing to cut.
However, common to her breed she has very long claws and they need to be cut regulsrly. I used to pay the vet nurse to do it, but now my daughter does.
I dont like doing it myself, it makes me nervous.
