Is it true that milk helps lower blood pressure naturally? |
| |
| I have heard that milk helps lower blood pressure or keeps it lower, which is healthier for the heart. I think it has something to do with the calcium content. Has anyone else heard this? Do you know if it's true. I think it could be true, cause whenever milk is in the house my family is calmer and there are fewer health issues. And, of course, milk is essential for healthy bones and teeth, especially in children. What do you think about using milk as a way to keep your body healthy? | | | | | |

| | This is news to me and if it is true I don't mind drinking one gallon of milk everyday as I have been on BP pills for 28 years now and it doesn't seems to leave me. What I have heard is drinking non fat milk helps to slim down. | | | | | | |

| | Ooh! I didn't know that about the non-fat milk helping with weight loss. Will have to try that out. Losing weight and keeping it off is my big deal, always such a struggle for me. But I know that it's so important for health reasons. Thanks for your comment. | | | |

| | I have a book on food remedies. I will have to go look that up. Calcium is good for so many things, so it is possible. I know it is good for cramps and bones, but not sure about the heart. I will get back to you after I check. | | | | | | |

| | OK, I got it. Milk is good for preventing high blood pressure, stroke, osteoporosis, and possibly even cancer. Has to be low fat or skim though. Possible it could lower cholesterol too. In the study used it was 4 eight oz glasses a day. | | | |

| | I don't like drinking milk because of the after taste it leaves on the tongue. But it is good for preventing high blood pressure, I would certainly go for it. | | | |

| | Zandi, have you thought about using non-fat or low fat milk in cooking, instead? Or, covering up the taste of milk with a drop of vanilla, stirred into the milk. | | | |

| | Thanks, Ruth! That's just the info I was looking for. You know I've been looking for info on high blood pressure and how to lower blood pressure naturally. And, this morning, that idea came back to me. Am so happy that it could be a real possibility. I have noticed that he has fewer problems in that area when there is milk in the house. And her teeth are growing in quicker when we have plenty of milk. So, all around, milk won't be a bad thing to have around more often, especially low fat or non-fat milk. Thanks for checking it out. | | | |

| | Thanks for checking it out, Hatley! Nice to talk with you again. Blood pressure has recently become an issue in our house, too, so I'm on the look out for natural blood pressure remedies. I love milk anyway, so having more milk in the house is not going to be a problem. | | | |

| | The article I read said that yes it does. Specifically SKIM milk. It sated 1 glass a day cuts your pressure by 1/3. It was pretty interesting. The study came out of the Netherlands. The study focused mainly on the elderly Dutch. Here is the link if you'd like to read it. http://www.nhs.uk/news/20... | | | | | | |

| | Thanks so much! You're such a sweetheart for looking up the info. I have been racking my brains lately trying to figure out some natural way to lower blood pressure. We're having some blood pressure issues with a family member and I really hope it doesn't go as far as blood pressure medication. Always best to handle things naturally when it comes to health. Fewer side effects. Thanks again. | | | |

| | Milk may help prevent high blood pressure. Hopefully that's true. Not sure if it will lower high blood pressure, but there seems to be at least one study that suggests it could help. | | | |

| | I have no idea if milk lowers a person's blood pressure. But it is so good for us anyway, that it is sure to have other health benefits besides even calcium for our bones. I hate skim milk, but studies have shown that people who drink skim milk for breakfast, eat 25% less during the day then people who didn't. Apparently, it fills a person up more than any other kind of milk or beverage, and thus aids in weight loss. Good to see you around! | | | | | | |

| | That really makes sense, considering milk contains lots of protein and protein is said to make a person feel fuller longer. | | | |

| | And because skim has less fat, but still has the protein...maybe I need to get me some skim milk. I just hate the taste! | | | |

| | Add a drop of real vanilla to each eight ounce cup of milk and stir. That should make the taste of skim milk more pleasant. Always works for me. Or, use as part of your cooking. That works too. | | | |
