I think Al gore needs to go away now |
| |
| The man has far exceeded his usefulness. He isnt even a scientist and people just take his word for it. He now comes out with an OpEd in the New York Times, saying "It is true that the climate panel published a flawed overestimate of the melting rate of debris-covered glaciers in the Himalayas," Gore wrote, also acknowledging that stolen e-mails showed that scientists "may not have adequately followed the requirements of the British freedom of information law." But the former vice president remained resolute. "The scientific enterprise will never be completely free of mistakes," he wrote, stressing that "what is important is that the overwhelming consensus on global warming remains unchanged." Let it go dude. Its over. The party is over. You made a boat load of money and even won a Nobel Prize. Last week, Oklahoma Sen. James Inhofe -- a prominent skeptic of global warming theory and the Republican leader of the Senate's Environment and Public Works Committee -- issued a request for Gore to come testify on global warming. In an interview with FoxNews.com, Inhofe said he wants Gore to appear because "it will be interesting to ask him on what science he based his movie," a film the senator considers "science fiction." This I would lopve to see! What is your opinion? here is the story - | | | | | |

| | I would love to see him defending this "science" as well but I doubt he will appear unless he's forced to. And, I think it would be a good idea to force him to. As you said, he made a boat load of money on this and I'd like to know if there was intentional fraud involved. | | | | | | |

| | Even his op-ed piece is full of mistakes - such as enumerating only two mistakes in the IPCC report. He doesn't bother to address the very real problem that some of the data in the report, was not scientific data at all but pulled from magazines and articles appearing in student publications. He calls the emails "stolen" (this is to make you doubt them and the motive of the thief) but it's widely speculated that this was the act of a whistleblower - someone who knew that there was something other than scientific method going on and knew that the world must know, too. On top of everything else, having won the Nobel Prize and an Oscar, Gore is now the messiah, come with salvation in his hand: "From the standpoint of governance, what is at stake is our ability to use the rule of law as an instrument of human redemption." Well, it may redeem his heavy investments in businesses that rely on global warming. Poor Al, I hope he at least invested that Nobel prize money in something other than carbon offsets. | | | | | | |

| | It should but it would have a better effect and make them feel ashamed if someone who had been saved by this nice German lady appeared in front of the judges and the whole thing was televised. I am sure the red faces, oops, and trying to hide from the television audience would have a great effect then someone who is not even Jewish and who was safe in England as a babe wrote to them. | | | |

| | One of our prime ministers Lester B. Pearson got the Nobel Prize. Now I am wondering. But then being conservative I would have anyway, but then everyone thought he did a great thing. Funny I do not know what the reason he got it for. It was so long ago, but he was a Liberal - sort of like Democrat. | | | |

| | I think it was something like the Quebec separation issue, but it was in the 1960s and I was interested in other things then. But at least Pearson did something. Obama did not. They expected him to do something and took his promises as gospel. Now I do not want to bring up the race issue, but it seemed that they fell into the fallacy that all --- men are honest and above board and are always truthful, can walk on water, levitate, etc. | | | |

| | interesting this. i'm actually a climate change denier, in that i don;t think its man made but i do support the science involved. i trained as a scientist and the leaked email thing is a red herring as far as i'm concerned. the data does support global warming and gore was right to try and bring that to public attention. | | | | | | |

| | Why don't the Senators just ask the Navy to testify. They have not only known of this for 40+ years they have been doing test under the north pole for 40 years and have military responces designed to deal with the food and water shortages that they beleive will happen. There is no question about this it has been discussed with every president starting with Nixon. No one wants to own up to the fact that you cannot double the worlds population every few years and expect the earth to absorb the shock. We are exposed to 80 chemicals every day that are man made and we don't think that this will hurt the enviroment? If Gore won't talk about then we someone who will, denail won't fix the problem. | | | | | | |

| | 80 thousnd man made chemicals, not found in nature. The reason the ozone problem has reduced so much is because many countries banned the biggest causes of the problem and what we ended up with are refrigerators that run on a quarter of the electricity that they used when using these damaging chemicals. We banned many aresols that were responsible and yes that has been over the last thirty years and the earth has started healing it's self. What I don't understand is why everyone thinks it is a bad thing to treat the earth with a little respect. Even if the science were still out on this hurting the earth look at what it is doing to people. America is the greatest user of chemicals and our cancer, autism, heart disease, are by far the worst in the world and go up expodentially every year. Autism is 25 times higher in America then any other country. We have some really bright people with some great ideas in how to produce food, electricity, energy and transport our selves around without killing our next door neighbor. I run my car on 30% Hydrogen which is not perfect but makes it run more efficent and 80% cleaner than when it left the factory, and it will last longer, what is wrong with improving our lifestyle and the earth at the same time??? | | | |

| | From a "The Hindi" article: The Antarctic ozone hole is now steadily closing. What was once regarded as one of the biggest environmental threats could now actually cause an increase of temperatures in the southern hemisphere, British scientists have claimed. http://www.polarconservat... | | | |

| | Exactly my point. We don't allow the use of r-12 or many of the arosol's that were the biggest cause of the ozone depletion, and as a result we have much better refridgerators then we had 20 years ago so it was a win win for the earth and the people living on it. | | | |

| | Laglen, global warming is a fact. Scientists do not dispute this fact. What is being disputed is how global warming has been caused: There are some who allege global warming has been caused by humans. Though I do not hold this theory, the fact remains that global warming is for real! You can see the article "Global Warming: Fact or fiction?" - http://www.chron.com/comm... | | | | | | |

| | I understand that. But I believe that the Earth has been constantly changing and cleaning itself. I find it ridiculous to think that we would ever make such a difference. I refer back to what I said before, being a good steward of the Earth is important. Taxing cow farts will NOT fix a dang thing. | | | |

| | Well, I just want to make such people understand that though some scientists and activists have their theories that may not be very logical, the fact still remains that global warming is real. | | | |
