Now-a-days it has become common to arrange for a decoration of vegetables and fruits in the marriage halls. Many varieties and shapes of animals, articles and other shapes are arranged by cutting the vegetables and fruits in the required shapes and also with combination of different vegetables and fruits. They look so real and amazing. People, who attend marriage, stand there for a while, enjoy seeing them and go inside the hall. The photographs of these decorations are also taken and find their place in the marriage photo album. Have you seen these decorations of vegetables and fruits? Did you like them?

Hi I have also seen them in the marriage halls. That art is called vegetable carving. It is carved with ease by the artisans who take special training in that field. I also used to try at home so that if any guest comes for dinner,we can also decorate our dining table with our skill and make our guest happy. Basically when we take our seat for the dinner, our mind should be happy and free of worries and tensions,so that what ever we eat and drink, we enjoy each particle of our morsel and each sip of our soup. This carvings are another addition to make our guest happy and content

Marriage comes once in a life time. Hence people save money for that grand occasion and spend lavishly. Any way few lakhs are being spent for the occasion. They think why not few more thousands more? Let the invitees eat to their heart's content and go happily, this is what they think. If your economical condition does not allow to spend that much, then there is no hard and fast rule to spend so much. It is ok. It is individual's capacity and willingness. I wish God gives more money to you through online trading and you too spend much for your son's marriage.

Vegetable carvings in exquisite designs have become vogue in parties and get togethers. It is nice to have a look at those finely cut shapes in different patterns.

Yes i have seen it in marriage halls. It shows the creativity of the person and also the patience in the person apart from the culinary art. It looks very nice and adds attraction to the function. I have seen many other things carved out of coconut, sugar syrups(thickened),ice cream sticks etc., in a marriage in Bangalore. The items made were so nice that they looked real but in miniature form. It seems it is customary in kannadiga marriages to exhibit such creative items from the bride's side. Happy mylotting.

Carvings in coconut is the exclusive art of Bangalore. Sugar syrup many make. I too ordered for these things for my daughter's marriage and her inlaws also have given her. It adds extra beauty to the marriage celebration. Thanks friend for sharing your view.

In India it has become common in all marriages. How beautifully the artisans carve the shapes is something to be seen and enjoyed. The shapes are of different nature like Lord Ganesha (God), chair, musical instruments, animals, birds oh! I cannot list it out. You call it they will carve it with vegetables and fruits.

I am happy you observed my absence. We have ugadi next month as we celebrate Tamil New Years Day. When children were small, I was celebrating Telugu/Kannada Ugadi too as I do not want them to miss a festival when other children are celebrating it in their house. But now some children married and gone out and my strength also got reduced and no one to eat so many itmes, hence I did not celebrate Telugu ugadi this time. You are an Agricultural Officer. Naturally you will have interest in seeing vegetable and fruit decorations. I always feel you are a good and sincere officer commanding high respect and name in your field.

Oh! The ice statue is so cool. Also the boy and girl standing like a statue is also rare in a marriage. I saw this statue like standing in VGP Golden Beach in Chennai.
