Castro is thrilled that we have passed the healthcare bill. He calls it a miracle. Well, I can tell you for a fact, that makes it all better, because if one of the cruelest dictators in the world is for it, how can it possibly be wrong?

How does the opinion of a foreign leader mean that an American law is good or bad? If Osama Bin Laden were to say that the constitution of the US is a fine document, would you consider that reason to get rid of it?

No, my point is that Castro as the others believe in a socialist mode of government. Sorry, I should have specified that.

Well Maggie, I'm afraid we are going to see a lot more of this down the road. We are all in a scary place now. I'm afraid we will all have to come together to fight and change this mess we are in. Leenie

How does that make it either better or worse? Why on earth would you think that an American law was good or bad because of the opinion of the leader of a foreign country? Do you think the parents of children who were turned down due to pre-existing conditions and can now get coverage are happy with this bill because of what Castro thinks? Why would anyone give credence either way to what Castro says about our laws? Why do you?

Children with preexisting conditions cannot now be cut off from coverage already in place and there is policy clarification coming that will guarantee their new coverage. Ambiguity in a new bill is usually the norm although on this one I don't imagine this would suit its opponents. I think you will find the parents of ANY child in ANY way affected will be happier waiting for clarification than they would be to continue as before. " When any dictator thinks our government is doing a good job, I have to look a whole lot closer"....If a dictator said that they admired the US constitution in theory, would you then have to look a whole lot closer look at the constitution? That makes about as much sense as basing your opinions of American law on what foreign dictators think of it. Could you point me to the place where you read about the Russians laughing at how easily we were going down without a wimper? I'd just be curious to read how a nation with as many problems as Russia currently has would waste time laughing at another nation. It certainly wouldn't affect in any way, how I feel about my country or about this bill. I'd just like to read it. I spend time following the news on the BBC. They usually do an excellent job of tracking European opinion of our politics but they seem to have totally missed this one.

When any dictator thinks our government is doing a good job, I have to look a whole lot closer. In addition to Castro, the Russians are laughing at how easily Americans are going down without a whimper. If people in this country can worry about what politically correct language to use because we might hurt the sensitivities of others, we can certainly worry when countries with less freedoms than ours or no freedoms are happy for what is happening to us. By the way, children with pre-existing conditions (babies in particular) are NOT covered with this plan. Older children and adults may be, but not babies.
