I've just had my local Conservative Rep at my door!!!! |

| Hi, I've just had my local Conservative Rep at my door, lovely woman & very passionate about her & her parties causes. I'm not big on door step knockers however she was pleasant & polite with a few good points that apply to everyone in the UK. I'm still undecided on who I will be voting for, if I vote at all & was curious waht everyone else was thinking. Will you vote?? Who for & why? If not, why wouldn't you vote?? Thanks | | | | | |

| | it is easier to say why i wouldn't vote for a party. erm, would? probably snp, decent enough policies and have a good chance here. [note to anybody not from britain, the snp are COMPLETELY different to the bnp] | | | |

| | A lot of people say they hate the whole "door to door" canvasing..but statics shows it works. People are more likely to vote for someone they have actually met and gotten to talk to. | | | | | | |

| | This is true. I did converse with her for a while & found she was really likable. She was obviously passionate about her cause & I would consider her in the next local election. | | | |

| | I'm not from the UK, but if I were, I'd be voting. I might not know who I was going to vote for until I actually got to the voting booth, but I'd vote. It's the only voice you really have in government, so why not use it? | | | | | | |

| | I always vote no matter how small the issue. I think it is your right to vote or not to vote. However, if you do not vote, then you shouldnt complain about your representation! | | | | | | |

| | I agree it happens a lot but I wont even debate the issues. To me that is a sign of a lazy hypocrite! | | | |

| | Hi, Your definately better off out of it!!! I do see your point about being critical of the party not individual members. It will be difficult for people to vote this time around in the locals & general as the country is in a dire state on many fronts. Is it better the devil you know or not?? That remains to be seen as I cannot imagine Labour being re elected this time round. However is in power they have a massive job in front of them & no quick fix is going to fix this country. Thanks for your response Mrsl x x | | | |

| | Better the devil you know? Maybe. The Tories economic policy (more debt and borrowing) I would not recommend personally. Better a coalition of the best minds without any dogmatic preferences. In 2006, there was no majority winner in the German elections. There was a coalition formed between the the two major parties. They had to put their differences to one side and get on with things. It worked quite well, come the economic crash Germany emerged out of it not particularly well, but better than much of the rest of the world. Then there was an election last year. The two different conservative parties won and formed a coalition. They have been arguing about things ever since, and they are at a record low in the opinion polls (after 6 months in power!). The junior party in the coalition came in promising massive tax cuts. The problem is that the chest is nearly empty and there is no way they could be paid for - so they are now on hold .... | | | |

| | Can't comment much on what's happening in the UK but I'd urge you to vote because it's the ultimate poll in both of our countries. I just don't hold with throwing a vote away and I find personally that I always prefer one candidate when I really look at the issues. As for those bothersome people who come to the door, we get plenty of them here also. We have one very good congressman who visits every home in his district once a year and we like him as does everybody else. Unfortunately, he was a dark horse candidate when he first won office over 15 years ago. After his surprise victory and growth in popularity over the years, they all started campaigning door to door during elections and re-elections. Mostly they are a real nuisance and we don't see them at all until it's re-election time so we just have to lay low in the weeks leading up to elections. | | | | | | |
