Hero dogs  

Dogs are very intelligent, and they understand way more than we give them credit for. I think it's great that Brutus was given that honor for his service, not only to his handler but to this country. I have read the ten commandments before, I think they should be published in every newspaper across the country. There are so many abused and mistreated dogs in this country, and it keeps happening. I have had dogs around all my life, and each one has been a big part of my family. I now have a pup, she'll be a year old next month, she has been through a lot with me, and yet she is my constant friend. After my last breakup, I once stated that the next 'man' in my life would have 4 legs, a waggin tail and always happy to see me! lol. Well she is happy to see me, that's the funny thing about dogs, no matter how long you've been away, or how you have treated them they still love you, so treat them well.

Dogs are used in many situations around the world - they are used as rescue animals after an earthquake for example or to help clear mine-fields they are used to guard and defend lots of uses and not just by the US. In England during the 2nd World War eg dogs were used to detect people and bodies in houses and air raid shelters we still use them today for rescue. They are also used to guide blind people and alert deaf people They are very loyal animals and I'm a cat lover!

The pet's ten commandments are very touching. I am a dog lover and have 4 indoor dogs that share my living quarters.

There's more evidence that dogs can detect danger even if it is not a natural disturbance. Witness the guide dog, or the service dog, which uses his powers of discernment to willfully disobey a command given him by his charge. These amazing dogs are taught to understand that the person they are caring for is sometimes unable to make educated decisions. For example, a blind person may give the dog the "forward' command, but the dog may see a car coming or a bicyclist approaching or a change in the level of the road that would cause his companion to fall. In these cases, the dog will use his own judgment and fail to perform an act that would prove dangerous to his human. Dogs read body language very well. After all, among dogs, body language is the primary communication tool. `

Hi pat~ This story was one of the most heartwarming stories
that I have every read! This dog is beyond a hero! How could
he possibly have understood all that from such a small command!
He deserves more than a hereos medal! And the ten commandments
made my cry and I am still crying and having a hard time typing,
well not typing, but reading what I'm typing! And just stopping
to wonder how anyone could ever hurt any animal ever! I wish
everyone in the world could read those 10 commandments and I
wish that anyone who ever hurt and animal would have them
forced down their throat to choke on them and then be put to
death in the most inhumane way that is possible! God Bless
you Brutus and may you always remain the Angel that you truly

i have read about all this before. and i forgot that i shouldnt read that last line cause i feel so guilty. i didnt go with my black lab when they put him to sleep. i just couldnt do it. no one told me i would regret it forever. i was still pretty sick and going through some more procedures soon for my illness. i just couldnt go. i cried for days and now i feel guilty. all the rest i know and do. if coco has to go some day, i'll go be by her.

We have four dogs in our house and another two in my sister's house.
We love dogs and we know how intelligent dogs are. But dogs has attitude also.
We also have problem dogs. Who we can't discipline because it bites.
And we also have a dog who thinks she is a cat. lolz.
But dogs will be always be dogs when you give them treat.

It nice to hear that theirs a hero dogs in Iraq.
But don't say that loud. Maybe when criminals know this they will kill dogs in site.

I have tears in my eyes from reading the PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS it is very touching and so true. The last commandment made me feel so guilty because I could not face it when my cat had to be put to sleep and my husband and I couldn’t cope with it so neither of us stayed, I feel so bad now, I want to cry...

What a hero Brutus is, it is an absolutely amazing story, nobody can ever say that dogs are not intelligent, they are the smartest, most loyal and loving animal! Thanks for sharing this...

This is really a great and interesting story about a hero dog. In this story he acted like a true human and soldier. He even saved the life of his handler and that is excellent and impressive already. Dogs are mans best friend and they have feelings just like humans and they knew they are loved and taken care of.

I really like the pet ten commandments. It is clever and wise in writings and the meaning is valuable. And if you had a pet dog treat it like a human and it will return the favor to you.
