probably because at that age you are already wise enough on how to go about with your life but sorry to say this i hate the ideas of looking old when i reach 40. then again it is unevitable to mature and get wrinkles since it's a pahse in life.

Am comfortable with my own skin now as I am when I was twenty. I don't look at my reflection on the mirror often enough so I don't know if I had developed wrinkles. I just feel I am my own old self. Nothing changed physically except that the blood keeps getting sweeter.

I once saw a t-shirt that says 40 is the new 20. I think if you take care of yourself while you're still at your 30's you will look great at 40!

I will be 48 in May. Far as I am concern life goes downhill when you hit fourty and beyond! I find you develop more health issues, get sicker more often then before,I'm lazier,I can't stop worring about retirement,I keep getting fatter, feel like I will never like myself, worry about if there is an after life,I'm angery at God,things don't get easier, they get way much harder and when you put it all together life sucks over 40 and just goes down hill after that!

Cool it, guys, at least we are breathing. I also have my own share of problems but life is just that. Otherwise it will not be life at all. I try not to look at the celebrities who live the wealthy life. They are just the tip of the iceberg. We belong to the ice concealed underneath. And there's a whole lot of us!

My sentiments exactly blue..you have said word for word what i wanted to ssy. I am about 5 years older than you so I'm 5 years worse off than you! Oh, and I can hardly wait for the "golden years"...Can you imagine how bad those years (if we make it to there) will be? I would take back my 20's and 30's in a heartbeat.

I do believe that life begins at 40. At that point in one's life, people are typically financially stable; they've reached a higher level in their careers, and most importantly, they've matured to the point that they are comfortable in their own skin and at peace with themselves. They know what they want. They know how to get it and they have the means to get it. Prior to age 40, people struggle to raise their families, pay their bills and are so focused on the busyness of life that they don't have time to stop and smell the roses so to speak.

I can only say that we have more spare money at 40.Hence we can enjoy life more.Probably this could be the reason they say life begins at 40.

Maybe because when you reach 40, there would be less stress as to your work, your family, you already have a more stable job and hopefully your earnings is more that what your spending. Meaning there be less worries so you can enjoy more. Just like me, I got married at 23, during the first 15 years of our marriage, I have to split my time with work and family, even my salary I have to do something to make ends meet, so many expenses and debts to take care of. When I reach 40, my eldest is on his college studies and he works at the same time to support himself, this means that I am at least one mouth less to feed. The needs of the children is no longer the same as when they were still in elementary and high school because I was able to get them educational plans before. We can go out as family now on weekends unlike before we can't even go parks. My household chores are lessen because my children can do their own washing and cleaning, they can even cook their own food unlike before I was so stressed because from the office as I went home I still have to fix the meal and clean all the dishes at night. That's why at forty...I can gladly say that my time to enjoy life started.

My punchline to that question is: Life begins at 40 "only when it failed to start at 1." But that's a joke with a wisdom hidden in it that can truly answer the question wisely.

This is only a saying. To boost the self esteem of the people who are in this age or nearly this age. To think for those who reach this age that they are not yet old to make changes to their lives or have a achievements or goals. That there is a second chance at 40.
