I have the solution to revive liberal talk radio! |
| |
| I believe that if Bill Clinton started his own talk radio program, he just may be able to revive liberal talk radio. He seems to want to be in the lime light, likes to fight with Rush Limbaugh, why not go literally head to head with him? A competing show! What do you think of my enlightened and insightful thought? | | | | | |

| | Bill Clinton might be a success but it would not be for his political insight. Rush Limbaugh does not delivery any insightful political insight. I have listen to certain people who has more to say in thirty minutes than Rush has to say with a 3 hour show. Though that is what makes Rush popular because he does not dive into anything complicated like breaking down Austrian school of economic thought. Bill Clinton would likely do the same which could work. | | | | | | |

| | Bill Clinton doesn't have the talent to do his own radio show. Several libs have tried and failed, and do you know why? They like to hit below the belt. I have tried to listen to lefty radio, and it turns my stomach. All they could say was that Bush was stupid. "He's stupid, ha ha!" No open discussion on what the president could do to make libs happy. Just, "Bush is stupid, ha ha!" That's why the libs are more 'successful' (if you could call it that) doing toilet humor on conservatives on Comedy Central and Saturday Night Live. It's their only weapon, since they don't have the brains to have an enlightened discussion on things. Old Stewart telling conservatives to "F---" off is considered hilarious to libs. I say it's childish and it gets old after awhile. Likewise, they use cartoons, like Family Guy, because lib viewers get their propaganda easier this way, then, say, conservatives who listen to radio. Sorry, but you hafta have brains to listen to radio, lol, lol!! | | | | | | |

| | I feel that I must come to Jon Stewart's defense here! The one time in particular I recall him telling the right to "Go F-- themselves" was in response to someone on Fox News, while discussing Sarah Palin, saying liberals don't have five kids and one of them with Downs Syndrome - "They wouldn't allow THAT to happen!" To me that was an unfair, disgusting generalization and I applauded as I laughed when he said those words! Annie | | | |

| | They like to hit below the belt I believe that this is on both sides. I agree with most of what you said, and this is why they want the fairness doctrine. But if anybody can save it, I bet Clinton could! Liberals love the guy. give him a mike! | | | |

| | I absolutely LOVE that idea! I'd definitely listen, I always actually enjoyed listening to Bill Clinton speak as he's very intelligent and articulate. He also has a way of saying things that the average non-lawyer person can understand. Annie | | | | | | |

| | Bill Clinton certainly could do a successful radio show, if he wished. However, that would mean doing some actual work, showing up some place on time, and not being intellectually lazy. Bill Clinton is not about to do these things. | | | | | | |

| | I read this thread earlier and responded but I had second thoughts and erased that response. My first reaction was "What a great idea!" Bill needs a job and this seems tailor made for him. But then I thought "What about Hillary"? The temptation to hint at a state secret from the wife for the sake of ratings might be too strong and God knows she has put up with enough from this guy already. Also, what about the contract negotiations? Bill is going to want to use his super star X-Pres status and his superior education to get more money than Rush. S,o who makes more money than Rush without being a crook on Wall Street? Finally, where's the audience? Liberals are not conditioned to listen to radio and I'm not sure that even Bill Clinton can change that. Frankly, the only time I listen to radio is in the car and i'd kill anybody who tried to dial away from the Univ of Pa alternative rock station I listen to every time I'm in the car. I get my political fix here on Mylot. Maybe they should both come on here and be paid the same portion of a penny for a posting we get. Now, that I'd like to see. | | | | | | |

| | haha well those are very good points. I appreciate you taking time to think it through. A little off subject, Finally, where's the audience? Liberals are not conditioned to listen to radio and I'm not sure that even Bill Clinton can change that. This is a good point, how do you feel about the fairness doctrine? | | | |

| | Okay, first off I think the Fairness Doctrine is a crock. Just to get that out of the way. The reason I don't listen to talk radio has nothing to do with the fact that my viewpoint isn't represented. It has everthing to do with the fact that the only time I listen to the radio at all is in the car and music calms me. I'm not a great driver and it is better for everybody on the road if I don't get worked up over politics. Rush or Glen would definitely make me a road hazzard and I'm not so sure Bill wouldn't also be a distraction. So "Give me the beat boys and sooth my soul" while I drive. I never really thought that liberals probably didn't listen to talk radio because their viewpoint wasn't represented. I just thought it was because they were mostly baby boomers and they associated radios with their brand of music and didn't want that messed with. I could be very wrong about that since baby boomers are also cosnervative who listen to Rush & Glen. Still, I definitely think that if a whole big bunch of us liberal baby boomers suddenly started listening to and calling into talk radio, our side would be pretty well represented, pretty fast. I personally still would not listen to the radio. The Fairness Doctrine to my mind is the same exact thing as restricting freedom of the press. Any media restriction is the same and that silencing of a viewpoint in any form is an abomination. If Rush and the boys are the price we pay for a free press, that's fine. Hell, if a few movie stars getting slammed by National Enquirer is the price, that's okay too. It's better than waking up like the people in Argentina did in the 1980's and learning that all the reporters and editors were among "the disappeared". I'd worry if people I can't stand were not free to jam up the airways even if I never listened to them when they were there. | | | |

| | I understand your stance on radio and I think every body has their opinion. Clearly more conservatives listen to the radio and more liberals watch tv. I agree with your opinion on the fairness doctrine. | | | |

| | I think it's a grand idea. I don't listen to Rush...but I'd listen to Bill, at least once, before changing the channel to oldies, but goodies. (I doubt Bill would do it for fear no one would listen...) | | | | | | |

| | Not a bad idea. I am not a big fan of President Clinton, but he'd be better than many on political talk radio. The Right Wimg seems to have the monopoly on political talk radio and that needs to stop. | | | | | | |

| | plenty of liberals have had talk radio shows. Bottom line, liberals listen to music on the radio. Conservatives, in more cases, like to hear the news or talk. | | | |
