Have you tried making purses from newspaper?

I saw this really cool purse that is made from newspapers....you line the paper with clear contact paper then you cut it to the shape you want and design the type of purse you prefer. The handle was one bought from a craft store. I am going to try to make one...has anyone else done one?

I think there might be something on the internet. I saw a purse. I would have never believed it was made of just newspaper.....so cute. I also see in the LTD catalog that they have these purse organizers so you could make the purse and stick one of these on the inside.

This sounds so neat. Can you post a photo on myLot once you finish one? What a clever idea. Am still working on plastic canvas items and will probably continue to do so until I am old and feeble. Find it to be so relaxing. I have seen purses made with plastic canvas but they look difficult and very time consuming. Good luck and enjoy your new project.

No - I have never heard of it. Make one and put a photo of it on Mylot. You never cease to amaze me with your creativity

Me neither I have never heard of that one. We used to make Puppets from Newspaper as a base but that was it.
giftsandbags makes handbags and party bags from recycled fruit juice tetra brik containers I think you call them tetra brik at least that´s what they are called here. They are really nice and original too. But post a Photo of your finished job please I would love to see what it looks like too. Thanks very much I just wish I was that creative.

Hiya Jill,
Once I made a Puppet out of paper mache and someone at School swapped her´s for mine so maybe I was´nt that bad after all?
So the Teacher never believed me at all he believed her instead so in a way I was kind of flattered that he thought it was so good that only she could have done it (grin) and not me.
Anyway that´s a one off I thought I would mention it just came to me when you mentioned newspaper. Someone got the "my high marks" instead of me. Never mind. I can laugh about it now. It´s sort of like someone impersonating you is´nt it.

No I haven't tried, but if I did it would probably end up looking like something else. Probably any purse I tried to make would wind up looking like a hat. 
But I can't wait to see what yours looks like. You have such a gift with crafts. It bet it looks really good when you finish it.

No I've not heard of that before but it does sound really interesting and a great way to recycyle old newspapers. When you have made one you will have to post a picture so I can see it for myself.
