| | Cats are naturally small feeders - they like to eat small meals at intervals. This means if you give a large amount of wet food in one meal, the cat will not eat all of it at once it'll want to eat some, then come back for more later on. This means that the food is liable to dry out and become unappetising for the cat who will not eat it if its anything less than fresh (unless it's really hungry) So if you are feeding wet food, you'll need to feed several small meals per day. Of course, it may not be practicable for you to do that due to commitments that take you out of the house and in that case, you'll have to adapt the feeding times to your own schedule. When I was working, I fed the cats in the morning, again before I went to work and again when I returned home. This was mostly wet food, but when I went to work, I also left them dry food for them to free feed on while I was away. If you are feeding just dry food, it becomes a bit easier for you as you can just put down a days ration of food and allow the cat to free feed. A cat will not usually overeat so this works out reasonably well. Of course though, this is not a feed and forget situation, you still need to monitor the cat's eating and always ensure that there is a supple of clean drinking water available - this is particularly important if you are feeding only dry food. | | | | | | |

| | Cats don't eat like humans or dogs. They are nibblers. I give the cats their moist food in the morning and evening but leave dry food out for them to snack on through the day. Cats don't gorge themselves like dogs sometimes have the tendency to do. So you don't have to worry about the cat eating all the food at once. If the cat gets too much weight on it, then you might switch to a low cal food for the cat... but with my four having the dry out for them to nibble on through the day works perfectly. I have a self feeder that I bought at Wal Mart and I fill it with the dry food. | | | | | | |

| | It depends on the cat. Normally you can leave out dry food for him or her to nibble on throughout the day. I have this plastic container, and I give both my cats a cap, and a cap and a half of food sometimes once, maybe twice a day. I let them decide when they want to eat, so they don't become over weight. | | | | | | |

| | My cats always have dry food in their bowls 24/7 so they can munch throughout the day. We feed canned food once in the morning and once in the evening. They also get some treats throughout the day or some days too. | | | | | | |

| | What my family does is one small can in the morning, and one small can at night. We always leave a medium size bowl of crunchies because our cats love to snack on that throughout the day. Always make sure they have access to water too! And despite popular belief, cats are actuallyballergic to milk. True!!!! | | | | | | |

| | Idealy twice a day? It depends. Mine get fed twice a day because if I just leave the food full they keep eating and plump up too much. My black cat Shadow forget that he just ate and will throw up food. It really is dependant on your cat. Cheers! | | | | | | |
