I asked the vet if they sold the collars that are supposed to snap when a cat gets caught up on say a tree or anything like that or even if the cat gets its paw through the collar, they said no so i am now going to be looking on the internet for some not unless someone can say where they sell them or there are bad things about using those ones on a cat.

It's a good idea, and I know that they sell them at PetSmart and probably most other pet stores as well.

jugsjugs,
I just do not think you will find such a collar as that would probably be defeating the basic purpose of a pet's collar, especially when you attach it to a leash and take your pet out for a walk.
If you are afraid of your cat getting caught then you may want to consider getting a body harness instead, where a leash can be attached to it as well. It is both safe and secure for all kinds and sizes of pets.
Hope this suggestion will be suitable for your cat at home.

I haven't seen any collars like that. In my teens I had a dog who got caught on a fence by her collar and thank God my neighbor noticed and rescued her. Ever since, I've made sure that my dogs' collars are loose enough to slip out of if they are caught on something.

i've never heard of those, the only ones i know of are the ones with an elastic strip on them so if a cat gets caught on a branch or something it won't strangle itself,,you learn something new every day

hi jugsjugs I did not know they made them but thats really a
keen idea. that way one's kitten would not get into serious
trouble as most can come down from a tree if they are not caught
by the collar. I hope some mylotter can come up with a place
where they are sold, and that they are not too high a price.
Good Luck and God bless.

You can get those colars anywhere. They sell them at any pet store. They are sometime called catch-clips, or something like that. I got the ones for my cats at pet smart. You can look there for them. Also try wal-mart too they have leashes and stuff. Its very common and easy to get.

My cat has one. It automatically snaps off if she gets caught and pulls on it. That way she doesn't get stuck in a tree or wind up choking if she fell. I found it at a common pet store. She's had it so long that I can't read the name on the collar anymore tho. But I think it says "Safe cat" It's very handy and has helped her many times over the years. We have a back up collar too in case she loses this one.
