I live in a small bedroom at my daughters. I have boxes stacked up all around me and am ready to move if and when I find a place. I dream of the day I can have my belongings unpacked and feel I have a home again. Is the place you are living in right now HOME or are you waiting for a better situation as well?

It is my home but I have my daughter and her family living with me. My daughter probably feels like you do and wishing to have her own space. I just put my house up for sale a little over a month ago and can't wait to get out of New Mexico. I'm moving GOD WILLING to Puerto Rico and my daughter and her family are moving to Florida. We can't move though till the house is sold. Once I'm in Puerto Rico I will be in my home loving every minute of comfort and peace. As I'm sure my daughter and her family will feel the same way once they get their apartment in Florida. We are just hoping someone comes along and buys my house soon. I hope you find your piece of sunshine soon so you can be comfortable in your new beautiful home once again.

Puerto Rico is beautiful but of course like anywhere else it has its bad areas. I love it because I can grow just about any fruit or veggie in my backyard unlike here in New Mexico. So you save alot by not having to buy fruits and veggie. There are foods that are more expensive due to importing but if you budget and I don't eat alot it will be just fine. Plus there is no taxes to be paid on homes. Once you paid it off that is it you don't have to continue paying taxes on a house you already own. That I think is great. There is also no heating bills which is a big savings. All you pay for is water and electric or gas and its not overly priced like in the states.

Yeah this is home but this isn't my own home. I live with my parents since I'm single. I do consider this as home but I know that sooner or later I may have to leave but hopefully not in a very near future. I like this home because not only does it have a very good location, we're surrounded with nature but close to the center of the city. Standard of living is low because my parents virtually is paying for everything (though I share).

Ah, to be back to that part of my life again. I lived with my grandmother for quite awhile when young and single.

Hi, celticeagle. Right now, I live in an apartment that I share with my husband and three children. By June, we plan to move into an house. We don't like it here anymore, because our neighbor downstairs is so affected by any noise that we make. We would rather live somewhere, that is less aggravating on us all.
I hope that you will have a place of your own to stay very soon. I know how it is because I had stayed/lived with my sister two times and it was very depressing. And just having to stay with anyone can be frustrating.
I hope that things will work out for you. Take care.

I know your aggravation and I have had my share of weird and unreasonable neighbors, even been one a time or two. I hope you find a good situation as well.

Yes, the place where I'm living is home. I inherited it when mother passed away in 1997. I was just about raised here, though. Daddy built this house and we moved in it in 1959. We had a farm out here for many years but after daddy passed away in 1985, the land was divided up between the children and some of it had to be sold, I hate to say. I have houses coming up all around me now and I don't like it. My oldest sister and her husband live up the road from me and we really do miss our privacy. I really miss our farm, too. I got the house I was raised in with the front pond and I keep a horse pastured out here. I'm thankful I got that much. I may be forced to move one of these days, I hate to say, because the upkeep is getting very expensive.
It sounds like the place where you are living is very crowded right now. I hope and pray something will work out for you and your granddaughter, though.

Your home there sounds very nice. I have dreams for years of having a place where I could have alot of animals. Doubt that will ever happen.

We originally had 160 acres out here when daddy was living. We had cattle, horses, all kinds of dogs, and cats. Daddy bought the farm in 1949 and we had pigs and sheep out here when I was a baby. Now, I just have a horse and a dog. That's all I can afford. Maybe someday you will have a bigger place where you can have animals

No, the place where I reside now is definitely not home. Since I moved to this state four years ago, I have lived in five different residences, and none of them have been home. In my current apartment, my belongings are unpacked, I have all my own furniture, and I even painted the walls a color I like, but even that isn't enough to make this home. I'm constantly having to put up with my neighbors making noise, leaving their garbage all over the place, and even vandalizing the premises. When we have troubles with the apartment, like a leak in our bathroom ceiling, it can take maintenance months to respond. I could fix it faster myself if I was allowed to. And just a couple days ago my husband's bike was stolen. We don't feel safe here, and we definitely don't want to stay.

yes, it is, but i know how you feel. it is very tough being in someone elses home. i lived with my parents for a couple of months when hubby and i were having issues (we have long since reconciled) and now we have a 24 year old living in our basement (he will be moving out soon too). but its hard not to be surrounded with all your favourite posessions.

You are SO right. Now my granddaughter and I are living in a one bedroom bug ridden apartment waiting for the other one to come available that we are on a HUD list for. Most of my stuff is in boxes still. I am still packed and ready to go!

There are times that I I wish I had bought a home years ago. I would own one by now. I did actually buy two with ex's but never could afford to keep them when things went sour. I hope to have a place to call home since my daughter is moving out from under us and the family rental is nolonger.

The place where i am living at present is rented but i was born here, grew up here and still living here. It is quite spacious and since i am alone much more than i really need. Even though it is a 70 yr old building it is in very good condition and i have no intention of moving from here since it has a wonderful location. However talks are going on for redevelopment and if it does come about then i will have an even bigger space and this will be my own since i will be the owner. However the present accommodation has been my home, is still my home and will continue to be my home in the future until it is demolished to make way for my future house.

I am finally HOME. I have went through alot getting here but I have been home now for the past three years. It feels good. It didn't feel home when I first came. I had went through a huge lifetstyle change and it took me a little time to get adjusted, but within 6 months I was very comfortable and decorating. That is a huge sign I think. When I was in my last living arrangement...I never decorated. I guess I just felt like it wasn't really my home. Now I feel like I have a real place of my own..no matter what. I hope you have that soon.

Thats good to hear. I do agree that decorating is a good sign. I haven't done that for so long. I just knew this wasn't home anymore. I have good news though.

yup! i'm proud to say that this little condo that we have is what we call home. it may be small for us but its ours and is a fruit of our labor. later one when our family grows then maybe we will consider looking for and staying in a bigger place. but for now, we're happy with what we have.

I currently live in a weird situation. Part time I still live with mother in my childhood home. Unfortunately it's in danger of being foreclosed as we can't afford to keep it. I stay with her when I have to work at a job that is located in her town. The rest of the time I live with boyfriend in another town and I work at his business. I spend so much time here with my boyfriend that the home I grew up in is starting to not feel like home. Maybe because whenever I go back to my mom's my sister yells at me for everything so I don't feel comfortable. I always feel like I'm inconveniencing people. Whereas at my boyfriend's, it's just the two of us in a small 1 bedroom house. I would like a bigger place and a nicer kitchen. Or to at least do some improvements on this kitchen. Then it would be perfect :)

Yes! I used to live in an apartment I really hated, but I loved like 6 months ago, and now I live in an apartment that I love, have chosen myself and that feels welcoming and warm. So I do now, but I do know what it is like not to, as well.
