I am laughing today that after election, department stores here in Tacloban City are flooded by shopers! A great sign that vote buying is really rampant here in the Phillippines.

Well I could not conclude that one because right after my voting me and my wife did go to the mall as well. No one in the precinct approached us and paid us to vote for them. It is hard to conclude that people going to the malls during election were paid. Maybe some of them just wanted to cool themselves off because the heat was just too much in the precincts. Unless you have a verifiable evidence to prove so.

I think I don't have to because I am a living proof to that. I actually received a total of 580 pesos from politicians. The minimal amount was 20 pesos and the maximum was 100.

You've also got a point there, rsa101. After the election, I felt like asking my parents to eat out at some mall. I felt the election was like a huge activity worth celebrating for coz first, it's finally done. 2nd, it's finally done because it took a long time to vote (6 hours)!!

Nice observation there aabuda,, Well here in our ploace such cases don't happen much because people choose good leaders and they don't need money to do so.. If those people grab those money and vote those that paid them then consequences would spark and they would later regret the deeds they did.

Lucky for you. I hope that it will be eradicated here in my country.

We're from the same country, lol, it's just that, from our locality, there is no such vote buying.

you got it right, in our city, it is my first time to observe the rampant vote buying, in any form (cash, goods, free ride, free meal, free load, bottom line with this is we will suffer again..

Yeah, you're right. But I think we can't blame politicians to do it because people crave for it during election times. Even in just a normal barangay election, people ask for 20 pesos from the candidates.

Yes, and that is exactly what's wrong with our people. Darn it. However we want things to change, our own, or other people's selfish desires will always drag us back down to square one. I am still annoyed with the result of the election. I don't know what the majority of our countrymen were thinking. WHY on earth is Aquino first, and worst, Erap second?! *shakes head in disbelief*

Hay, naku! When will we get over this evil? I thought we have learned our lesson already. In our place I have not heard of anything like this. I thought people have become more educated and wiser when it comes to choosing their leaders.

lol. you've got a good point there! Nice observation. Tsk tsk. I wonder if the person who bought the votes lost... It's really sad that something like this is happening and is rampant every time we vote! Some people really aren't using their brains properly.

Yeah. It's so painful on their part considering that on the average, you have to spent 200K in order to do it (my friend works for a politician).

That's both funny and sad. I think vote buying is also present and even rampant in other progressive countries. It's just sad that it's also present here in our country.
