Online Dog Adoption Scams!

How many times have I encountered scam pet adoption sites in the internet? Well a dozen times already. They say it's for free then starts charging ridiculously high adoption fees! Usually these people are from Africa ( I am not trying to discriminate anyone but this has been my personal experience and so with the emails). I am just so fed up wit these scammers. I just encountered one scam ad on our local online advertisement page and she posed to be a nun and dragging the name of the Lord into her monkey business. I told her to stop doing that and told her that I know it's a hoax. She stopped emailing me. Have you encountered this kind of scam before? What did you do? By the way I reported the issue to the site admin and have her banned.

I am very sorry to hear that you are having such trouble with all these scammers. I really loathe seeing and hearing about scammers of any kind that drag the Good Lord's name in on their business. I just hope that you can find something soon that is not a scam, as I know you are not able to go pick up the dogs you are looking at yourself.

Hi friend, Yes dragging the Lord's name in one's unholy activities is not just vain but outrageous and disrespectful. Yes I cannot pick up the dogs I'm looking at that is the con of purchasing online but I still believe though that there are honest online breeders out there. This is the price of living in a not so forward town where everything is expensive and there are less services around. I have found a site that I am interested at though it is still here in my country but not from my area though. It is a non profit non government organization that saves puppies from puppy mills and abused dogs and rehabilitates them. Unfortunately at this point their adoption area is still under construction so I cannot view the pups and dogs for adoption. perhaps you could help me validate its authenticity www.animalwelfaresociety.webs.com

I agree, don't lose hope and faith as not everyone will scam and maybe you will be able to find a dog breeder that is legit soon. I am looking into the site as we speak, the first con for me is that it is from a free website, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything as they are a non profit organization. I have read the front page of the site, as well as the contract of the site. They are very upfront and I am very intrigued that they also put in as a clause that they have the right to check on the animal's wellbeing without prior notice. I think that this place sounds legit. I would give it a go, they seem to be legit enough, and you can call and talk to them more before getting the dog.

thanks for checking it out. I saw one of their urgent notice online from last year the founder amanda johnson asked for help because a litter of bulldog puppies that were rescued from a puppy mill were left in there care and they had no more room for any new comers. My bad I did not know bout it I would have adopted 2. Still I'm waiting for the site to get back to normal so I can take a look at the pups for adoption. Guess it would be better to adopt than buy from breeders so I can help out with the proble, But the thing is though I don't want the pet I am going to adopt be spayed or neutered. I hope its possible that they don't.

I know Craigslist is full of scammers with puppies for sale. Alot of them find free dogs, then turn around and sell them claiming to be a shelter, or save-the-animals adoption house. Bunch of crap, and it gets tiring to see all of this going on already. Or, they're looking for a great family, a great home, and they need to get rid of their loving puppy,....for a BIG price. If you really care about your dog and you're looking for a really good home, then you wouldn't charge a fee. You should only be looking for a good home, period, so you know your pup will be taken care of. Scammers, scammers everywhere, no matter where you are looking, and the same with the job market. It plain stinks.

I agree with you here! If they post adoption they should not be asking for outrageous fees but just look for good homes for these pets! I guess the world does not get cleared of scammers sigh...

Scams are something that is terrible and something that we really should not have to deal with. However, it seems that people want to figure out a way to make a quick buck and it doesn't matter to these people whether they've earned their money in a legitimate manner or through illegal means. I've heard of people that have gotten scammed with animal adoption and I think that it is terrible that there are others that will play with people's hearts like that. I wish that I could lead you in the right direction to find a dog that wasn't a scam, but the only thing that I've ever done to adopt a dog is through the humane society or a local animal rescue.

Hello CAndy!! I just don't get scam for adoptions of sorts. I also have those in my mail who wants to become business partners. I won the lottery without even joining. How amazed could you get. I had my shares of those emails. What I do is just delete them. There offers can be very tempting and money can really make you blind especially if it's a big sum and you might buy what they are totally saying to you. I go for deleting that whole thing so that you won't have second thoughts.

Scams should be reported so that some people will not fall prey to this syndicated means of livelihood. These people are very good and articulate in kinda like salestalk. There should be a law to stop these hoax.

It is a crazy world we live in. People do anything to get money and in the name of holiness. Though I have not come across such kind of scams, I need to keep watch of people with ulterior motives to scam others so I won't fall into their traps. You did right to report that person.
