Jim Reeves, known popularly by his nick name Gentleman Jim, was a name to reckon with in his short singing career of around 16 years. His voice, a smooth baritone , captivated his listeners so much that he became tremendously popular not only in the US but across Europe,South Africa and also had a large fan following in India.I remember listening to All India Radio`s Saturday Date program which was broadcast in the 9.30 pm slot on the radio and it always had at least 3 request for Jim Reeves numbers. He started out as a country singer but changed his style to a crooning country pop after his 1953 hit single Adios Amigos hit the top of the charts and this was followed later that year by Bimbo which again proved to be a chartbuster.More singles like 'Welcome to my world', 'Heartbreak Hotel', 'Roses are Red', 'Golden memories and silver tears', 'He`s got to go', 'Distant Drums', 'Ghostriders in the Sky' and many more became extremely popular with the people. His untimely death outside Nashville on July 31st 1969 in a private plane crash robbed the musical world of a truly great singer. I do not know whether the present generation has even heard of Jim Reeves but folks from my generation and even older will surely remember with pleasure all his songs which one could hum under ones breath the entire day.Thumbs up to a Great singer.

My mother had several of his albums, the most memorable to me the Christmas album. My mother always wanted me to play "Silver Bells," an obvious favorite of hers. "Welcome to My World" would be my favorite of all that I know.

Yes, he was a good singer. I liked Welcome to my world. Great one! I remember my grampa and I would listen to Ghost Riders in the Sky when it came on the radio. It was a great tune and brings back alot of memories. I think of times spent with my gramps whenever I hear it.
