Your rag rug is so neat. Bringing back an old time craft is always exciting. Hope you do well on Etsy selling these rugs. How long did it take you to make it? I don't crochet but do knit. Only the basics since I really can't follow a pattern. Just don't get it! I do make various projects using plastic canvas. Recently made Sesame Street banks for our grandkids. I used a plastic coffee can and it turned out so cute. Haven't tried to sell any since they are Sesame Street characters. It's my design but don't want to get into any legal issues.

I'll try to remember how to add a picture here. It's been so long. I make notes as I go to mainly center my projects. Some patterns I bought and others were found on the internet. Will try to upload one of the banks so you can get an idea of the crafts I make. Tried selling them on Etsy but failed miserably! It was a good experience though.

Sorry for the delayed reply, still trying to get the hang of this site.Thanks. The rugs take me about 2-3 weeks depending on the size.
That sounds really cute.Have you tried making your own patterns? I don't know much about plastic canvas designs, but you may be able to make your own on graft paper?

The two crafts that I do most often are card making and jewelry making. I wanted to learn how to crochet this winter. I bought the items I needed and even borrowed books from the library and tried using Youtube for videos and I just couldn't catch on. I'm still hoping to eventually learn how to crochet. For now though I really enjoy making jewelry and cards in my spare time!

I used to make beaded earrings when I was younger. My best customer was my neighbor who i sold them to her for $1.00 a pair-lol
I taught myself how to crochet(before computers)so it can be done.Learn the basic stitches first and the abbreviations so you can read patterns.

I taught myself how to needlepoint from a magazine in college. I learned to cross stitch from a kit in the mid-1980's and learned to bead in the 2000's by looking both in magazines and stopping into a bead shop. I also learned to crochet a bit from my mother.

I did a little needlepoint and beading before, but always found I can crochet faster.

I love to crochet scarves. My 7 yr old neice always ask for me to make her one every birthday and chirstmas. A few years ago I made some for all the women in my family and they absolutley loved them. Right now I am crocheting a blanket for my baby that is due in October.

Yarn and needle work used to be my favorite crafs. Now i enjoy scrapbooking, beadwork and soap making. I like to try new activities. You can easily fall into a mundane slump wirthout adventure.

I often thought about trying another hobby, but I have so much crochet stuff now, I won't have any room left for something else-lol

I like to do all sorts of crafts but as of late I haven't really had time to do much. I like paper sewing, I think thats what its called, basically take a sketch poke holes where the lines are and then sew them to "color in" so to speak. I also love to garden but since I live in an apartment all I have is potted plants. I also like to make instruments. Mostly folk flutes or fifes but I am trying to get into lyre making or guitar making when I have the funds!
Thanks for posting!

Rag rugs are cool. If I ever have that little cabin that I'd like, I'd definitely have to have a few as part of the decor.
My "crafts" are writing and cooking... some photography and even a little bit of video, too. I want to delve deeper into all of these.
I've been tempted to try my hand at crocheting, but I need to find someone who is really good at it (and really patient) to teach me.

Yes rag rugs are something that has been around for many years, you just don't see many people doing it any more. I just sit and make cat balls all day long, it use to be that I could make balls for kids to play with, but now with the laws out there you cant sell toys for kids anymore. So instead I just make cat balls, some are plain with no bells in them or catnip. I figure that way if a parent wants to buy it they can for there kids.

Oh that darn law. I used to love making baby sweaters, but don't do that unless it's for someone I know now.
