Is Amare Stoudemire Really Worth Paying $100 Millon For 5 Years With the Knicks?

If this was a younger Stoudemire that was around 25 years of age or less and never got his past knee injury than I would say yes. Hes still young as far as an average person is concerned but as far as nba playing age is concerned hes not that young. He will be 28 around the beginning of this coming NBA season. His playing ability will probably decline in the following 2 to 3 years like many past NBA players. On top of this Amare Stoudemire had a knee injury that gave him problems and kept him out for well over a season earlier in his career. He still has knee problems every once in a while and has to sit out a few games so the knee problem he had never really got better entirely. Since that knee injury he can't do powerful dunks and attack the rim as much as he use to although he still is a powerful dunker and is still good at attacking the basket. He also averaged over 25 points a game before the knee injury ever occurred which he hasn't done since. Before Amare had that knee injury he reminded of a younger shaq that could attack the basket with powerful dunks except he was better because he was also good from the free throw line. Stoudemires rebounding should be better for his size as well and honestly hes really bad at rebounding considering his size and playing ability. With all this being said I've concluded that I don't think hes worth a 5 year $100 Million contract he just signed with the Knicks. The only clear hope now for the Knicks is to sign Lebron James to a contract if they want to get far into the playoffs as I don't see it happening with the newly signed Amare Stoudemire.

No. I absolutely don't think that he deserves a $100 million for 5 years salary in NY. First and foremost, DAVID LEE?. The only difference between him and Amar'e is that Amar'e is more experienced and is one inch taller than him. But looking at the averages that they put in last season.. Amar'e only has 22 pts, 6 rebounds.. compared to David Lee's 20pts-11rebounds double-double output. Again No. He has occuring kneee injuries which had him sit out games last season or two seasons ago. Yeah he can impact and help NY win games but how can he do is job if and if he gets injured again? Talk about $20million a year down the drain. No. As mentioned by the respondents above, Amar'e needs a point guard with a caliber such as Steve Nash who can make plays for him. He can post-up and all but a good point guard is what he needs to put up huge numbers.. Which for one is a problem in NY because they have no playoff experienced point guard who can run the team.. If and if LeBron teams up with him in NY, it will definitely a huge boost in the post for him that a SF such as LeBron can run plays for him as well. Thats about it.

Amare was signed because the Knicks were afraid to be shutout this NBA free agency. You can only give MAX to LBJ and Dwayne Wade. Most of Amare's points came from pick and roll with Steve Nash. He rarely defend and rebound for his size and he has injury issues. Knicks are wrong in their thinking that Lebron will go to them if they sign one of the BIGS (Bosh, Lee, Boozer and Stoudemire). Knicks you should have signed David Lee!

hi elmiko no I do not think he is really although he is really good but I am a retired medical person and knee injuries like he had will probably get worse as he keeps aggravating the knee all the time. oh my g that is a lot of money I did not realize just how much some of these basketball players get.He has been a terrific player. yes I agree Lebron James would give them some real help. It is going to be really interesting to see who goes where. good luck God bless.

yeah they make absurd amounts of money. its kind of comical of me asking if hes worth $100 million but many of these really good nba players make such amounts. i'm just referring to how much each of them makes when compared to other nba players, but referring to people in general than i don't think anyone of these nba players is worth that much.

Well, for me Amare is a good player. He's a tough guy who gets the basket really hard inside and also a good defensive blocker. Despite of he's knee injury he's still the Amare Stoudemire that can brought a team to the finals so, he deserves to get a highly paid contract in NBA.
