Growing up getting in IIT was considered the gold standard of a person's capabilities. Then over the past two decades going to the IIMs became the gold standard and now institutes such as ISB etc. are beginning to stake the claim of being on of the most premier institutions.
Which according to you is the premier educational institution in India?
Cheers!

I think it depends on where you want to be. For engineering courses IIT is best. But for Social Science IITs are not the best. Similarly for medicine AIIMs, CMC Vellore, AFMC etc are best, but those do not apply for Architecture or Commerce etc. I think it depends on which field of study you want to be. I think comparing IIT with JNU is like comparing table and apple.

That is true, but how do you compare institutes, but looking at the people getting in and where they reach after the completion of the course or just by looking at the final result. For e.g. what is the big deal in IIT when they recruit the best brains and then churn out the best brain!! But if there are institutes which take in all kinds of people and turn them into winners, would you consider it to be a better institute or not?
Cheers!

I think taking normal people and bringing out the best from them is the kind we would say is best. I don't think IIT recruits the best brains. IITs have great brains, but doctors are equally great; and so are pilots; and so are writers; and so are artists etc.

Till now IIT, IIM is considered as premier institute for good education and for campus placements. For Biotechnology i heard Bharathidasan university, and School of life sciences, hyderabad is best. For Fashion technology NIFT is best.
