Well it's been ten days without a car. I'm so proud we only had to borrow one twice. We live in the country and there is no way to walk to the shopping so I think we have been doing very well. Our poor little car blew it's head gasket, about $3000 in repair costs. But Hubby decieded to keep it instead of trade it for a new one. I know he knows much more than I do about cars so when it comes to them I let him make all the choices, over the years we have done very well. I think when he brings it home I'll get out the party treats to celebrate.

Ten days without a car is a long time! I don’t know how you cope so well! I had a car that had the same problem and I recall it cost me a lot of money to repair but it was fine when I go it back and yours will be too I’m sure. I would have a party to celebrate your car’s return for sure!

That is an expensive repair. In this day and age it is difficult to be without a car, so I can see why you would want to party. I look at the repair of your car rather than replacing it as probably smart. You know all about your car, how it runs, what its service has been and once this head gasket is repaired, you will have a reliable car again. When you change cars it takes awhile before you know what makes it tick and what hidden problems might be there.

That's a big repair bill! But a new car would saddle you with month payments for years and probably wouldn't have the quality your older one has, they just keep getting cheaper and cheaper construction and more expensive sticker prices. I hope this is the last you have to spend on it for a long time!

Wow, that's an expensive repair! I hope you're not without transportation for too much longer and that you don't have any other problems with your car. I hate car problems and my first reaction is to get rid of the darned thing, too, but we have mechanics in the family...including my husband...so they're repaired.

Its nice to know that you are getting the car repaired and are going to continue using it.But the last 10 might have been a difficult period as you had to restrict shopping.Your husband must be having a fair idea about cars.I don't think he would have continued with it if he felt it didn't have a few more years of useful service.
