This is what actor Michael Douglas, in his first TV interview since undergoing treatment for throat cancer, told Today's Matt Lauer: "The odds are, with the tumor gone and what I know about this particular type of cancer, that I've got it beat," Douglas said during an interview that will air Tuesday on TODAY. Douglas said that he still has to undergo monthly checks to be sure the cancer is gone, but he's already quantifying how having the disease has changed him. http://scoop.todayshow.com/_news/2011/01/10/5805833-michael-douglas-tells-matt-lauer-odds-are-hes-got-throat-cancer-beat?gt1=43001 With so much tragedy and sadness in the news these days, I thought I'd pass along some good news for a change. Any thoughts and what are some of your favorite Michael Douglas movies? Annie

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that way! I thinki in my case it's giving my age away. Another movie I forgot to mention is "Beyond a Reasonable Doubt". It's several years old now but I just saw it recently. Annie

Well, that's really good news. I just hope he will be cancer free forever. I am also a big fan of Michael Douglas. I like his movie Indecent Proposal with Demi Moore and that one with Gwenyth Paltrow as his wife, i like it too. I just can't remember the title though. Even if he is an antagonist there, i still like him because he is so versatile in so many roles.

..Hi annie, I had not heard about his diagnosis of being free, that is excellent news. It is pitiful that anyone gets the disease. But it seems when you are well known as Mr. Douglas is the nation concentrates on it all the more, which is natural. I would hape that he can get through five years, that is a benchmark I think. I know some people who are living with, with treatment and are still alive after more than ten years. It's the Lord and sometimes a lot of luck. Thanks for the news. Oh can't think of the name of it, but the one where he hired this guy to kill his wife was good. "The Perfect Murder" maybe? Take it easy.

That was it and it co-starred Gwyneth Paltrow, who I just happen to be watching on SNL as I write this! Annie

I am not a health expert. Even if Michael Douglas is pronounced cancer free today, I don't think it's totally gone from his system. Hope he can take care of himself better. G.

Wow.. I am also glad about this good news, he was so fortunate to have beaten this illness. Although he still does not look good, since he was recently sick, I hope he'd recover soon. I only saw a few f his movies, like Basic Instinct and Ignition..he was really cool there.

The radiation and chemo is really brutal. Now he'll hopefully start looking and feeling more like himself since the treatment has ended. Annie

I think Fatal Attraction should be required viewing for any man who has ever even thought about cheating on his wife! I'll bet it HAS changed some minds since it was re3leasede. Annie

As far as movies go - An American President is the one that comes to mind. I know I have seen at least two or three more of his movies, but they would not be my favorite. It is nice when someone gets a reprieve from such a sickness.

Yes, "An American President" was a good movie. I agree, it is nice when someone gets a break from that dreaded disease. So often it recurs, I hope it doesn't in this case. Annie

That is great news; it was hard to think we might lose such a charismatic and natural star; and that incredible voice! It's hard to pick a favourite Michael Douglas role: I first saw him in "The Streets of San Francisco" at a time he was still angelically - as opposed to ruggedly - handsome. Possibly his most iconic role is as Gordon Gekko in the two "Wall Street" movies. I like that he is so versatile; and of course a natural - with his magnetic presence and hypnotic voice - to play an "American President", one of his most charming roles.

From what I've seen of him since he completed his treatments luckily he hasn't lost his voice. He was slightly hoarse and raspy, but that's normal considering all he's gone through. He said that should go away before long. Looking back, he sure was young in "The Streets of San Francisco", wasn't he? Annie

I am glad to hear he's healthy again, I'm sure that was very difficult for him and his family. I can't say I have a favorite movie of his.. that genre isn't my cup of tea!

Yes, it had to be very difficult, especially since he has two very young children. He's a pretty versatile actor with movies from different genres but my favorite has to be "Fatal Attraction". Annie

I won't comment about the Big C. But I do like MD in American President. He did act like he was his role!

Cancer is a personal matter, even he is a famous actor, that is his own business, not any of mine to concern though. He is rich, and he should be strong. Although he has cancer previously, he should follow healthy guideline to keep himself check - up. Glad that he is out of it.
