hello doctordidi!
Yes, honestly speaking, most of the times, we do go against our conscious!
I personally am not interested in doing engineering and Engineering is basically not my kind of a thing! I, i mean my conscious know that, but then I'm forced to do it for my parents and for the people around me, the so called society which claims engineering to be something which is the only prestigious study in the world!
But, I'm into Dance completely, and I always wanted to make my career into dance! But, I just can't do it!
Well, life is that way! Not all we expect actually happens! Life has to go on with the acceptance!
But, I'm anyways happy with what I'm doing, but I'm sure I'm not passionate about being an engineer!
Cheers!

you owe something to you too not just your family. go take'
dancing and you will never regret it good dancers can nmake as much as engineers I amn told.

Hi hatley!
Thanks for understanding what I actually meant. Well, The problem is not with engineering! Well, Its basically about the society I'm living! People over here are not that broad minded! My parents don't have any problem with me dancing, But then, they are scared about the people around us as people here are not so open about dancing! They don't see dancing as an art! Its something which is meant for entertaining others over here!
Well, more than that, I am a Classical dancer, yet, there opinion is the same about dance! I'm tied up now and if I continue with dancing, then I am surely going to spoil my reputation in my place which will hurt my parents! Other than that, I don't want to risk my reputation as I was born and brought up in a very orthodox family. And I am a person who will behave and make sure that no body even dares to point out at me and my character for any matter! For me, values and respect is the first thing!
Thanks for the concern friend! I'm happy not all people consider dance in the way the people around me consider it as!
If at all there is a concept of rebirth that prevails, I hope to be reborn in a place where art is also respected equally as education!
Thanks for sharing!
Cheers!:)

Yes, shrijsr, I agree that most of the times, we have to go against our conscious. But it is also true, you must admit, that we can minimise the numbers if we try our best and have the courage to not to surrender to others.

Yes, sometimes we are compelled to go against the conscious. This may not be for my own interest but may be for my survival. You are right in your comment that we should always try to see that this does n't occur too much in life.

I fid go back in my thirties to et an aa in E nglish and in my fifties to get a BA in English.I did not try to pressure my son into something he did not want to do,.He knew early on that he loved computers and computer programming so thats what he does.

Yes, this is a very common phenomenon. Children opt for a different subject which parents do not like and what parents like is not liked at all by children and I children are always the victims of such differences in choice of subjects.

Yes there have been times in business when I did not agree with what was taking place. Anytime this has happened I have started looking for another job. Because my family was relying on my income I have never been able to quit without another job to go to. I did what I felt was best for my family but I didn't agree with the company I worked for.

I don't think that there is a person alive that would be telling the truth if they were to say that there has never been a time in their lives that they haven't gone against their conscious. The most recent time that I've done this is my life is when I had to go to the hospital this past week because I wasn't feeling well. I had to admit to the people that I didn't have medical insurance and had to ask for financial aid applications. It doesn't feel good to ask for financial aid and it bothers my conscious, but I know that it is something that I have to do.

I usually pay close attention to my conscious and my intuitions, it is when I do not and listen to others opinions is that I find I do not have favorable outcomes.
So for me I try really hard to listen to my intuitions as this way I am the one making the right and wrong decisions with absolutely no regrets.

There are many , but one that reoccurs in my mind is when I know that getting bribe is wrong, but I got a bride to write a letter of reference for an unemployed to find a paid job. I forge the signature of a manager. I was using ethics of lesser evil.

Yes, I had done it, I guess it's the product of my impulsiveness, I have acted fast before I could think I would give burden on my conscience. There's also times when I make justification of my act but in the truth it's really against on what I have believed in,thus makes me worry about this thing called conscience !

Yes, I experienced it and it's very different feelings. I have to accept that my conscience speaks, but sometimes you have make your move first,, for any events in your life.

Yes. Usually when someone else tells me to do something and I have to. (like parents or at work) It gives you an uneasy feeling.
