water supplies are very acid. Acid drinking water can lead to health problems over time. You can get strips to test your water. I tasted my friend's water, she had made it alkaline. It tasted good and it felt a lot better in my stomach. I'll have to save some $ the next time I get some and get some strips to see how much acid is in my water. She said when she went to a spring, the water was 3.0 and I get my water from a spring. So if you haven't tested your water, you may want to think about it. We have lots of acid rain here. Many trees are dead because of it. Polution from our state and other states drifts up to the clouds, it rains and the acid from it comes down (probably other stuff, too, but that's what they talk about mostly). Our lakes, rivers and streams have been tested. They're all more acid with every year that passes. I really never thought about testing water from wells or springs that come from within the earth because often sand cleans things, but after years and years, the sand my be full of acid and not cleaning any out or able to retain any more. If you have tested your water for acid, was it acid? High, med, low, what did you do about it if it was acid. If it wasn't acid, why do you think that is?

I have a filter container in my refrigerator and also have a filter system attached to my faucet. I really never thought about acid but I suppose we should test it. Sometimes we get upset tummy's or other and who knows this might be related. If you find out what the strips are called do share I would be interested in finding out if my water is affected, especially because I live in an old building and the system is mega old here.

Litmus paper sounds familiar, but I'm not sure what the paper is called. I'll have to double check and get back to you. Take care.

I use tap water here and never thought about it, but we do have acid rain and that has to affect the water supply. Where do you buy the strips and what are they called?

Good questions, I don't know, I didn't ask my friends yet. But I would think googling acid-base test strips would get plenty. I wonder if there is any difference between those acid base strips and ones for soil? We have tons of those in our area at every garden shop in the area. Otherwise, I guess places that sell water softeners would have them. But maybe not, they usually want you to subscribe to their full spectrum water tests.

I did a little quick research and it seems that any acid base test strips designed for liquid will work. I even found directions for making your own test strips, but I don't know how accurate that would be. There's a site here: http://www.indigo.com/test-strips/ph-test-strips.html that sells them online.

Have to think about it. We get alot of run off from the mountains. Thank goodness. I drink alot of water right from the tap. I also drink Dr.Pepper. And I often wonder how much water I might get from them. Now that you mention it the water in the Dr. Pepper might actually be better for me than the stuff I drink right out of the coroded, dirty tap.

Except that soda can be used to strip pain. My brothers used to use soda to take paint off their bikes so they could repaint them. Hope you're rinsing your mouth after you drink soda. Plus brush your teeth later on. Take care.
