What was the the thing that happened that was so hard to live through but it had a good or needed outcome. I have had three. When I lost my dad , I turned inward and it helped me survive highschool in a way. Instead of being happy go lucky , and Wanting to follow each trend , I felt invisible. The second was when my mom died, I finally got to be more independent and I got online that led to my third. I met and fell in love but it didn't work. But because of this broken heart I was open , yes open to find the love of my life. so There had to be bad to enjoy the good. So what was the best bad thing to happen to you?

Sometimes I feel my life lacking because I don't have deep and meaningful 'bad things' happen to me to reflect on. It's not that I want something terrible to test my resolve, it's just that I envy the ones that have already gone through a lot, and have survived.
I am but a small man when I stand beside the likes of you sarah.

Don't You Dare Belittle yourself in my presence! You are a kind , thoughtful , father. None of these are small! And stop comparing yourself to me. You are unique. This is a friendship , not a competition! See, I like you , Just the Way you are.
You have just been lucky. You are getting to enjoy all your loved ones longer. I'm glad for you. Be glad. And i Know if something does happen, you will be able to handle it.

The best bad thing would be divorcing my husband...Divorce is never a thing you want to do, but in my case, it was the best thing I could do for myself and my kids. They still do not really know it, but they are much better off, and I know that I am. There is nothing wrong with being single for the rest of your life. Too many women think that they have to be married. No you don't...lol

Agreed.I never got the " You Must be married" memo. My mom hated weddings. and it is a good thing because by age 7 I chose never to have children and by 13 never to marry. I'm so glad you are happy. I hope the kids, when they are older, will look back and see they Were better off.Take care.

I lost a job I held for 22 years. I thought I was going to retire there, wrong. I was able to take a much needed break from the work force. I was able to pay off debts with my 401k from that job. We no longer lived paycheck to paycheck. A lesson in life well received.
