Last Sunday, i cooked a pork recipe that i have previously cooked also a week ago. This time though, i put worcestershire sauce, as what is in its original recipe, since i was able to buy one this time.
However, husband told me when i asked him if it's delicious, that he prefers what i cooked a week ago, of same recipe. I was a bit hurt of course, but i took it as constructive criticism.
I revealed to him , what additional seasoning i added this time, and he said he prefers the former one , though this one is also good.
I consoled myself that at least my husband gets to voice it out, so i can improve it next time.

I love pork but there are some seasonings that I do not like. I personally do not like worcestershire sauce and I am sure others don't either. But, I have a simple recipe for pork chops that I think is awesome. I get the center cut pork chops, fresh of course, I make a seasoning mixture with, olive oil, lemon juice, a little salt, black pepper and oregano. I mix it all together and pour it over the port chops and then cook in the oven. Now the mixture is about a half cup to a cup of olive oil to a quarter cup of lemon juice. Salt, pepper and oregano to taste. Believe me, it sounds like it won't taste good but it is awesome. Just an idea for something simple.

hi simplyd He was sweet about it though so you should be glad of that and you can duplicate the way you did before.I had the problem
that my hubby was a professional cook so he often cooked with me
and sometimes I would feel a little hurt yet he was also really sweet
about it and he never really hurt my feelings. He could make beef stew ten times better than I ever did and everyone has always liked my beef stew too.It was fun to be cooked for once in awhile too
specially when I had to go back to work as he was laid up.he would cook dinner for me and have it waiting when I got home from work as I sometimes worked extra hours to get a bigger pay check. lol lol lol.

Oh, i envy you Hatley, for having a husband who is a professional cook. You must have gained a lot of poundage for his cooking.

Sometimes, husbands expresses themselves in ways that are their style alone. The first time i did this recipe, and he liked it so much, i asked him how is it. He said "tsamba" (unintentionally done nicely) and i laughed because it wasn't. It's just that he would like to say, i unintentionally have done something that i did out of my own invention.
Nonetheless, it was still music to my ears. It's indeed nice that we have our husbands as judge to our cooking. At least we get to improve our cooking if it's not done as delicious as they expect it to be.

I like your husband's honesty. He is just trying to be honest so that you won't waste your time preparing the food that he doesn't like. That would be good for you because you have your husband as a judge. He'll tell you what went wrong and what made it good on your cooking. In that way, you will be able to know what is the right ingredients and what's not. You'll surely improve.

Yes, as always, my husband is the judge to my cooking.

At least, he had let you know what recipe he prefer to eat. My hubby also like to share with me, whenever he had tasted my dishes. By that way, we are able to get to know how to improve the taste of our dishes. I even give comment to the dishes which cooked by my hubby. By that way, we can both learn and improve our way of cooking.

It is really nice for husbands and wives to be open with what they feel and think , to each other. It helps them improve in areas which they think should need improvement.
In my case, i appreciated it really that he told me honestly what he thinks of what i cooked. Though, i am disappointed that it didn't please him that much, i am still thankful because i know i can still improve it, next time.

It's shocking what just one ingredient could do to a meal, it change the taste of the entire thing. I personally don't use worcetershire sauce, my hubby doesn't like the taste of it. I have utilized on occassion to marinade meat and/or poultry, but since he doesn't like the taste I have avoided it.

i dont cook, i just eat har har har. my wife is the one who cooks and she cooks well. but of course because she started the interest in cooking when she was in her teen years. so practise makes perfect. she got the skills already as years goes by and worked also in a catering service. i guess your husband being honest is better than just saying it is good even its not. in that way you can make it better. you will be better when someone comments and not just say its good if it is not. i cooked once when wife and son needs to be at the doctor for my sons immunization schedule. it was all ready, my wife left a note on how to do it. but in the end i put a few drops of oyster sauce and it taste good. from that day on oyster sauce became my best friend. har har har

Actually, i liked it that my husband tells the truth about what i have cooked. At least, i will be able to discern what made it different and not as tasty as the first same recipe that i cooked.
Oh yes, oyster sauce makes a lot of nice difference in cooking. You can always put a tablespoon of it, in sauteed foods. It also makes pancit , delicious!

Hello dear,
Don't you worry,he likes the first recipe right,so I guess he prefers the taste of it.
Next time you know what to do.
We have different tastes, some like it salty, some a bit sweeter or dull.
There are menu that I liked it a bit salty and little chili, but there are also dishes that I like it a little sweeter.
Have a good day always

Correct Jaiho. At least, i know which tastes better on that same recipe. The former one or the new one, with another added seasoning. At least there's a room for improvement, as was said.
Besides, it's rare that my husband expresses what he feels. I always force him to express how he finds what i cook.

Great, it's good that you got an honest feedback from him. So now you know what to improve on and what ingredients to avoid.
Great job D!

Early on, i don't like the taste of worcestershire. However, this recipe which i copied from my brother in law who cooked it first at our parents' birthday party, was so delicious and he said one of the seasoning is that seasoning.
So when i first tried it, i don't have it at home. But it turns out my husband likes it.
Now i know, that the recipe need not have that seasoning.

Don't be hurt simplyd, I use worchestershire on alot of my recipe's. It's common in the USA, but the kids and my wife don't like it. It's what I am used to but they are not. I don't care for all the soy sauce they use, but again it's what they are used to. I have to admit though, my wife has made things for me that are traditional here that I really did not care for but I do not tell her that. Whew...thank goodness she does not ask me to have seconds.

It's okay menace. I can totally understand that people have different preferences.
I noticed that foreigners specially Americans are fond of using worchestershire ( i don't know if this is the real spelling
)on their recipes. And they taste delicious.
I guess, i had too much of it in my last cooking, so it doesn't taste good.
Yes, we Filipinos use soy sauce instead of that. Well, at least without the second serving you are forced to slim down, in a way.
