Oh my goodness! Just posting the qestion scares me. This haven't happened to me yet but whenever I get in an elevator I always have this thought of "what if...? / what will I do?" Actually, until no, I don't know what will I do. Maybe call someone, text someone, wait or if there are people inside -- befriend them. I really don't know. hehehe
If this ever happen to you, what will you do?

Well, you are right it is normal to cry for help but if you're stuck there for a long time ... my goodness ... that is terrible!

hi:)
mostly inside an elevator there is no mobile signal, so more likely you cant text someone, but There is usually an alarm button on every elevator, which will help signal others to the elevator incase no one can hear you scream. There is sometimes a phone, connected to the outside world, that usually calls the service company of the elevator so you can report what happened to you, but mostly you aren't alone inside so if there's someone with you then it's not that frightening, just in every situation like that always be calm, because if you panic you can't think clear.

Wow, you are really calm. I'm not sure if I will be calm. But all the options you gave are possibel to be done. Thanks for not panicking.

Press the alarm button.
Then, if I was alone, I'd probably fall asleep until help came along rather than sit there and be bored. If there were other people, I'd probably have to stop them panicking, since confined spaces don't really worry me and I'm one of those annoyingly calm people. Then I'd probably have to sit and listen to them for ages (which would drive me up the wall, most likely).
Alone's definitely better.

Press the alarm button!
You sound very calm and cool. Well I am glad there is someone like you who could listen to people's whining while waiting for help! Sleeping is a good idea too but don't you think you need to make a noise so security needs to know ou are there. Thanks for responding. Have a great day!

That's what pressing the alarm button does. Though I snore, so they'd know I was there anyway!!

LOL I was stuck once in an elevator with my son. At first I was not alarmed but then the doors opened and we were stuck between floors.
I was trying to contain my composure as my son was very young and I did not want him to panic. We were there for about 8 minutes before the Firemen came to help us.
My mind was thinking what if the elevator suddenly drops, although we were only between 3rd and 4th floor, I could not help but to think that we could be crushed. I could sense my son scared but I kept him as clam as possible. The sad thing is that a ladder was lowered and we had to climb up the ladder to get out. This was at his dental office where because of his braces we had to visit monthly. From then on we took the stairs.

Oh my, just going to the dentist's clinic is already scary ... plus the fact that you'll be stuck in an elevator is surely scary for your son. I am glad you stayed as calm as possible. Good job mom!
Well stairs are good for our health anyway. This doesn't happen every day though. Thanks and have a great day!

@ hwg,
As I'm reading your response I remember a movie scene where the elevator was stopped on purpose by the villain in the said movie. It stop between floors and it's really a high rise building. There are already police though in the scene thinking of ways on how to extract the passengers in the elevator. It's good it stop almost half way to the door, so what the rescuer did is to pull them up one by one. It's really scary if we are trapped in elevators.

Oh gosh yes it does sound like a scene in a movie and at the time I could not stop thinking; OMG what if when I am climbing up the ladder the elevator decided to begin to work. So it was very frightening.
An experience I would not want to go through again.

if its due to power failure, then it is only for temporary....
but if there is a company inside the elevator for example:
you cannot trust that husky man beside you and there are only two of you inside that elevator, it's getting hot because no air condition, and he's starting staring at you....
what will i do?

Emergency button!
Honestly I don't know where it is.
For now, staying calm is the best way to react in situations like this. We don't hve to think bad or anything negative towards the people with us ... remember they are the one ith you. Thanks for responding.

I think I will freak out silently. I don't know how that looks like. Pressing the alarm button will help but while waiting for help ... you should calm down and text someone if there is signal or make a noise so people would know that you are there. hehehe Thanks. Have a great day!

I really have no clue what I would do if I was stuck in an elevator. Luckily, it has never happened to me yet, and it's not something that I hope will ever happen to me. It's certainly not something that I wish for. But, if it did happen, I don't know what I would do. I would most likely go a little insane after a while.

Oh my I don't wish it either. Oh again, you gave me a word there "insane" I think I would be in a while too.
There are people that really get stucked and I salute them for pulling together theirselves and kept calm. If we are calm we'll be able to know what we'll do. Thanks!

i too have not experience the same being stuck in an elevator. i guess, with so much gadgets we enjoy nowadays, we won't be bored inside the elevator or we won't be stuck for so long when that happens.

I always have this fear when using elevator to get to our office, not to mention that our office is on the 14th floor.
Okay it's not that far from the ground, what scares me is most of the time I am always alone when using the elevator since my work time is graveyard shift and we're the only people using the whole building (only us in that 14th and 15 floor using the building on that graveyard shift)
One more thing is, the whole wall is walled with mirror and sometimes gives me a creeps too, imagining to see a shadow besides me or any image might appear
If ever that will happen...I will surely cry
have a good day :)

I have also that thought itn my head, each time I get into an elevator, what will happened if I get stuck. So far it has not happened. I honestly do not know what I'll do. I do hope I have a cell phone so I can call someone for help.

Oh this situation already happened with me so many times that I don't remember how much time. The first time I remember that I got stuck on the elevator with my family and we press the emergency button and someone came to help us.
The last time, I got stuck alone (the first time that this happened to me). I pressed the emergency button and a guy came to help me and took me out off there. I don't have scary of this situation, so, for me, don't have any problems. But, if someone don't like small spaces, this can be really suffocating.

What else to do but to shout loudly for the help. But after realizing that it is of no use then just to prey God for his help. And just carry on sweet waiting to start the lift normally.

Well, normally those are th first reactions "Shout!" But well, we can't do anything so just wait ... and pray that someone will notice. Remember, don't sleep ... maybe the doors open and you are in a deep sleep so it closed on you again.

It would all depend on who or what was stuck in the elevator as well. If it was some strangers then obviously I would get to know them to pass the time and pray that the movie the devil does not come into action.

If that situation happened to me, I guess the best thing I will do is not to panic. You will lost your judgement if you get nervous.Anyway in all elevators there's a button to press in case of emergencies to attract attention.Good day my friend.

I haven’t experienced this one yet and hope it will never happen.
I’ve watched the program “Worst case scenario” from discovery channel wherein it is demonstrated what a person should do if ever he’ll get stuck in an elevator. Worst case is that if the elevator’s cord snapped and fall.
Probably I’ll follow what I can remember that he did there.

It happened to me when I was working as a call center agent. Our office is located on the 5th floor of the building. So I have no choice but to use an elevator everyday. Well I remember that time the weather is not good if I am not mistaken there is a typhoon that day. My shift is from 10pm-7am that night. Actually that time, I have a hesitation of using that elevator since there are no electricity in the nearby streets from my office. But when the elevator opened, there are 7 person inside so I just entered.
when we reached the third floor of the building, suddenly the lights turned off and we just felt that the elevator is not working. We didn't panic except for a little girl with her mother inside the elevator. We can't ask for help since our cellphones do not have any signal. I just pray for the electricity to come back so that we can get out from that elevator. Thanks God after 5 minutes of being stuck inside, the electricity came back and we all feel the relief. And the rest was a history.
Well that is one of the unforgettable experienced I had. after what happened I think it took me 1 year before I was able to use an elevator because I am afraid to happen that again.
