Sunflowers to decontaminate Fukushima area.

I have just been reading something rather wonderful in my spiritual magazine (a few issues of which can be read online: www.paradigmshiftmagazine.com). The highly radioactive farmland around the nuclear plant in Fukushima, Japan, is going to be planted with Sunflowers. These flowers are not just gorgeous to look at and beneficial to insects but turn out to be able to 'mop up' any cesium in the soil. I find it incredible and delightful that Nature has this answer to Man's carelessness with his environment. Long may we continue to use Nature to help us survive and flourish as one small part of a vast ecosystem, instead of distorting its properties to only benefit ourselves! Bless you, Gaia!

There's many plants which can be used to clean up after man. Nature truly is wonderful.

I was looking at research recently into the use of Mycorrhiza to combat heavy metal contamination. Fascinating!

I haven't heard of that one. I'll have to look it up. I'm just so thrilled something is finally being done to combat all the damage we have done to dear old Mother Earth!

It's great that when we hear of something new we can just look it up online. I still love reference books but the Internet makes it so much easier for me than a long walk down to the library! What is so lovely is that the information is bang up to date, virtually instant. My only problem is information overload, as I love learning so much!
