myLot new feature suggestion

similar to Youtube's 'forward video to friend(s)' I'd like to see an option to 'forward discussion to friend(s)' as I've noticed that some discussions get rather ignored if they are send automatically as 'Your friend ... started a new discussion on myLot' by the myLot mailer than being read because usually people have a lot of friends here on Mylot and overlook particular discussions in their email folder. But when you PM them they'll usually reply to the discussion. So it would be easier with such a button and then just add a small message to tell them what it's about and that you'd like them to participate. Cheers stk40m

Well, that does sound interesting. Might get a prod under some that don't answer your posts. That would be good. I do like things as they are on here. Can't say as I need alot of change to go on here. I am not big on change and it is rather nerve racking for me to be honest.

I am not big on change but, like you said, if didn't replace other good features I guess I could go for it.

yep, when it comes to major changes on websites I'm also a bit conservative. However, as long as it improves handling and does not replace other good features I'd go for it :-)

I think that would be a good idea. Today I decided that if a person posts a lot of discussions but don't say anything in them, I was going to turn off notifications for that person. Hopefully, that will help reduce the number of emails in my in box. I don't know if it will ever happen, but it would help me to know if I should hold on to a discussion or just delete it when I see it since I know which friends post nonsense all the time. Thanks for the suggestion!

maybe you could also delete them as friends? I also noticed that some only post discussions while they never respond to comments. Unfortunately some of them did in the past and I liked what they had to say. Possibly it's easier for them to think of new topics than to think about answers. It's vice versa with me :D

hi stk40m we already have the notifications so what more do we need as the saying goes, you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make him drink, and same for asking friends to respond, if your discussion interests your friends they will respond, if it does not friend or not they might not as there's a huge selection of discussions to respond too. I would never resort to begging my friends to respond. I have more pride than that.,most people go\ down the line in their email folders so just be patient they will respond.

nah, my suggestion doesn't have anything to do with begging. If you read my initial post you see (or not) why I suggested it. It's the same as with YT. If you have hundreds of friends there you'll see ALL of them in 'activities of your friends'. To go through them ALL can be a pain. To OVERLOOK a discussion here is the point. I often read that people did only come across a discussion by accident while going through their hundreds of notifications. Then they say something like: ''I hadn't seen your discussion before, sorry for replying so late!''

That does sound like a really great idea. I hope that the Mylot admin will consider it. I guess it would be a problem if they were being forwarded a lot then a person would get a whole lot of messages in there mailbox. I guess then there would be storage problem for messages. Then maybe they would have a spam problem.

good point. They could possibly circumvent the spam problem by allowing only members with 500+ posts to use this option (as it is already the case with the copy/paste function for texts).
