Yes this is unique and exemplary for the criminals and offenders. A guy offended a girl in public on night of 29th June this year in a wedding reception feast, he was arrested and was in jail, when he filed prayer to grant bail, the honorable high court has granted it under a UNIQUE condition.
As per this court order this guy will polish shoe of devotees coming to a famous temple, he will do this every Sunday for 2 hours, 4 to 6 pm; over a period of 12 weeks.
This is certainly exemplary for criminals, antisocials.

I think it's a much better idea than just throwing him in jail or fining him. Hopefully it taught him a lesson.

I think these kind of court orders are great! For minor crimes or/and offenses. I think it gives them social justice. It is must closer to the reason the act was committed to begin with. UNIQUE condition but a good one. I have heard some judges here in the US are implmenting such court orders.

hello professor,
you said he offended a girl. so probably it was a minor offense based on your laws.
we do have penalties like that as well and we call them community service wherein the offender renders services to cover up for the offense he made.
thank you for this discussion.

Community service is something that is a common punishment for criminals around here. I know that my mother was once charged with shoplifting when she was younger, but she had never before convicted of a crime. So, instead of having to serve time in jail or have to be on probation, she instead had to do community service at a nursing home. I think that performing community service is a better thing to have people do when they make their first offense.

Hello Papa!
That sounds like here where they do community service. Most of the ones I heard must go to salvation army's and work a given number of hours in a time period. It is usually hard and embarrassing labor.
I think it is okay as this way they will think twice before breaking the law and or victimizing others.

Hi Professor! Is this something like 'community service'? I'm asking because sometimes the courts here will sentence people to community service.. such as feeding the homeless, working in a homeless shelter, sweeping parking lots and so forth. I think it can be a just punishment to teach people to behave themselves from then on.
