Here in the Philippines, a lot of syndicates’ ways are being unraveled through the CCTV cameras. Imagine, catching a guy who stealthily, took a laptop on the information desk, left unattended by an employee. There was also this incident at this fast food chain, where a group of men and women would try to distract the attention of a person left to look for their things, while one of them is already slowly getting one of the bags under the table. It’s really one good invention that helps lots of establishments for identifying persons who did some crimes in their establishment while they are not being looked at. At least, they can now have them hunted for their crimes and have them in jail once they are caught.

CCTVs contribute to the security of the place and a great help during investigations. I think in QC today no business permit will be granted not unless that business establishment has a CCTV. The only problem with the CCTV is the clarity of the videos. I think they should improve the clarity so the culprits faces are clearer. I have seen some of the videos of some heist and it seems that the bad guys are aware that there's a CCTV and normally has a cap or a bonnet to hide their faces. It's also very common that CCTVs are installed in the ceilings so it very easy to hide a face with a even just a cap. They should place CCTVs in locations where it's pointed out in the faces of those coming in and out.

Wow, if QC is really like that in its policy of granting big establishments their business permits, then it could really help a lot in catching bad guys. In my opinion, there should also be a bill hindering people to go inside an establishments with cap that hides the face. And yes, those CCTVs should really be improved as to its clarity. In addition, those establishments having them, should regularly check every opening in the morning , if their CCTVs are really operational.

Requiring people to remove their caps or what ever head covering they had is a good idea. I recall a security guard telling me to remove my cap in one of the landbank brances. However, not all banks or even landbank branches are implementing that policy. I was irked at the guard that time but I complied but I realized that he was actually doing a wise move.

I guess, the guards should be instructed to have the courtesy needed in accosting people to have their caps removed when they enter the premises.

i see the big help of the cctv's in the investigation. but what i want to see is a more secured system where culprits are caught during the time the crime is being done. i mean, if they could catch them during the execution of the crime and not after the time where they only have are clues and clues are not even clear. the identities of the criminals or the suspected persons could not perfectly established because all they have are speculations based on the unclear facial evidence coming from the cctv recordings.

That's true. Can not those cctv cameras be connected to the police station, where two or more police would do the monitoring, so in case of a robbery just taking place in the camera, they could jump and go to that place?

Actually, a lot of criminals are caught because of CCTV cameras. It's always in the news . Though some CCTVs would be hazy, that you cannot decipher what actually transpired. But because of that, a lot of CCTVs with clear monitors are now coming out of the market.

Out here in the west, almost all the big cities have CCTV's everywhere. Specially with the riot that happened here in June, city officials are thinking of adding more CCTV's. I get the point of protecting the people and catching crooks in the act, but sometimes I just don't like the feeling of looking over my shoulder and knowing that big brother is always watching.

That's also being adapted by municipalities. A lot of criminalities are revealed in those CCTV's. It's a good thing though that i am not bothered at all by those CCTVs. But i guess, it's fun to watch the tapes of those CCTVs.

It is really good that CCTV Cameras are becoming popular, especially in some businesses. But it would have been better if they can see the face of the culprit clearly. Maybe they can put it near the entrance. There are several cases that I had watched in the news that they have a record of the video, but they were not able to recognize the face of the man because the quality was not good.

I think CCTVs price depends on its quality. The higher the quality and the clearer it can get, the higher the price. Having that, would really be worth the price, because anyway you can allocate the expense for many ,many months, since it becomes a fixed asset. That way, the price will not be much of a bother.
