I wish car drivers would actually play something I KNOW. Perhaps I'm getting old but I bet if you asked the drivers themselves what awful "music" they're playing on their car stereo systems the answer would be, "Er, I dunno, it's a compilation of DOOF, DOOF, DOOF tracks."
Honestly, Kenny next door parked up yesterday with his car blaring out the immortal sounds of..er, I dunno actually. All I got was, "DOOF, DOOF, DOOF" at ridiculously high volumes.
Oh, well, at least he's not playing it in his house anymore!

When I pull up near a car who has their bang, bang loud music I can't help but wonder if they are aware that some type of emergency can occur in their surroundings and they can't hear it.
All I hear is bang, bang.. and it ain't music to my ears. lol

That's a good point you make there. Drowning out the sirens of ambulances..not great is it?

I believe that people's selfishness in playing their "music" so loud in their cars ought to be an offence. it is symptomatic of all that is wrong in this country. I bet that he says that it's his right to play it as loud as he likes. But what about our right not to have our silence interrupted by such moronic selfishness. Time we got to grips with thoughtless folk who want everything their way at the expense of everybody else!

To be honest, after Kenny parked his car that was it, the music was turned off. Sorry if I gave the impression he'd been sat in it for a long time.

I give up on the music of the generation of today! I can't find any of the music I want to listen too!
If it ain't the music between the 60's and the 90's, I just don't listen to music at all !

I know what you mean. I'm hard-pressed to find a band I've liked in the last 10 years ago..I'm struggling!

Ah, yes. We are showing our age and the generation gap now aren't we by discussing this! I am with you on this one. Doof Doof is not music, just noise!
I came across one of these yesterday. The kid looked about 15 and looked like he should be riding a skateboard instead of driving a BMW! His pants were obviously too small for him as he could not get them up over his bum cheeks. They were that low that he must surely have had trouble walking in them. How can you be comfortable wearing your pants like that?
What a Doof Head!

Doof Doof music is already a well known term here, so sorry, you cannot lay claim to that one!
BTW, remember my discussion from last year about my football team, The Magpies? Well they are playing off at the MCG in the Grand Final for the title again this year...today in fact!
They have Meatloaf coming on stage soon for a bit of a sing! No Doof Doof from the Big Meat!

Haha, it looks like I've invented a new word, "DOOF!" and it's travelled the world, how marvellous.
Love that description of the kid's pants..not a good look is it?

We just came home from a trip. And we took a few cabs where we went. And every cab that we took seemed like it had very unfamiliar songs. Mostly songs with words I couldn't understand. Except for the Russian driver in LA, the others were middle-eastern guys.
I'm sure each song meant something beautiful, but I just couldn't appreciate it.

If the songs were something you knew you could've sang along to them. We're off out tonight to a nightclub (shock, horror) for a party for a guy who's 40..on John's side of the family, his cousin I think. The guy's a rocker too and even likes MAGNUM, a band I've loved for years. So, I'm hoping if music IS played (which is highly likely in a Rock nightclub lol) I'm confident it will be rock music. If not I'm coming home!!

I think It is not so much music as alarm that prevents driver from getting to sleep,or else, the driver follows the crowd ,he likes what others like and actually doesn't know what the music sings.I am not a fan of popular music,I like classical music and Peking opera as well as some local opera. To be fair, some of popular music are pleasant to listen to,but others are difficult to listen to.

I will have to admit that I listen to a lot of different music while I'm driving, but it has to be fast paced.. otherwise my mind tends to drift and I become unattentive and sleepy. Sometimes it's rap, sometimes it's punk, sometimes it's some very fast paced pop.

I have witnessed this kind of stuff in Public transports in my country for long distance traveling and the point of view of that driver was, it will keep me awake during night driving so If you have purpose than it is OK for me otherwise I don't like music during traveling.

I laughed when I read the title of your discussion because that's all I hear! I really don't get why some drivers need to pump up the volume to full blast and pull down their windows for the whole world to listen. And yes, they have very poor taste in music, well for me anyway. What also accompanies the "lovely" music is the revving of the car and the loud mufflers when they try to speed away. It's so loud that I can feel the street vibrating under my feet.
And all I can feel is DOOF DOOF as the floor vibrates with the nasty beat. Some people are so funny, I don't mind it as long as they don't do it while I'm sleeping at night. @Janey1966 (24170)

I call the guy next door (not to his face, obviously) an LCT, which stands for Last Chance Trendy, because that's what he is and I really don't think he has a clue what he's "listening" to.
