Chaz Bono on Dancing With The Stars - Why Is Chaz Still Competiting?

I have been an avid viewer of Dancing With The Stars for several years now. There are times on this show that I am just utterly amazed at the elimations and saves on the results shows on Tuesdays.
I was watching last night when Kristen Cavalerri was eliminated, and Chaz Bono was saved. I was appalled that she actually is still a contender in this competition. I am so shocked that Chaz is still on this show. He/she cannot dance to save its life. This is a dance competition you know. It just seems to be more of a popularity contest too much of the time. I'm sure Chaz is a nice enough person, but it's called DANCING with the Stars, not WALKING with the Stars.
Also, I was wondering about Chaz's mother, Cher's, absence in the audience every week.
I mean, everyone else's family has been in the audience from the beginning. Is Cher really that busy these days? They said Cher would be there in the audience next week though since Chaz had moved on to Week 3.
I can't see Chaz making a dramatic change in the coming week so I am thinking that surely Chaz will be going home next week. Everyone else on the show is just so much of a better dancer and more deserving to move on in the competition.
What do you all think out there in myLot land? Again, I don't know Chaz at all, but as a dancer Chaz is pretty bad.
Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

I use to watch the show, but stopped when I would see talented people leave the show and people that couldn't dance stay on week after week. The show is losing many viewers this season and clearly needs to make changes.

I was thinking that too - the "stars" aren't really always "stars" are they? In Britain the show is called "Strictly Come Dancing". That seems to be a more appropriate title though as it can apply to anyone really.
I do think though that they need to revamp the voting so that it relies more on talent than on how many friends or fans you have voting for you.
Thanks for your comment and have a great day!!!
By the way, David Arquette is a pretty good dancer - you can tell that because he's in his 40's like I am, it's harder for him to keep up with the younger people, but he does!

From what I heard on a celeb gossip show, Chaz was expecting to get voted off last and was surprised when it didn't happen. After what happened with Bristol Palen though, it's obvious that the home viewers have a different agenda other than talent. Looking at Chaz today, it's hard to imagine that he is the same person as the little girl that used to be on TV with Sonny and Cher.

I know what you mean. I remember little Chastity on the Sonny and Cher show back when I was a little girl.
I just hope this doesn't turn into another Bristol Palin deal but it seems like it already has.

There are Gay and Lesbian groups encouraging their supporters, especially the ones who do not watch, to make an effort to vote for Chaz. While this might not be fair, in past seasons less than good dancers have stayed on the show while great ones have been kicked off. The elimination of Sabrina Bryan is the first person that comes to mind. Her partner was Mark Ballas, who was the partner of the just eliminated Kristin. People feel sorry for Chaz. And I think that helps him/her get votes (I say him/her because if they did a DNA test it would still come back female.). Chaz Bono and Nancy Grace should by all rights be the next two to go. As for Cher, I heard that she didn't want to bring all the attention away from Chaz on to her. But since all the Kardashians made it as did Courteney Cox to see her ex, I don't see why Cher can't show up. She better do it soon before he is kicked off.
But I have to be honest. I thought it was completely unfair and wrong that Chaz stayed and Kristin went. I wish the viewers actually went by talent.

I agree with going by talent and it seems every season so many have that same comlaint. At the very least I'd like them to give the judges 2/3 vote and the audience 1/3....the audience participation helps ratings of course so they won't give it up totally...

What gets me about "dancing with the stars" is that most of the contestants are not really stars. At best some of them are hasbeens trying to revive their careers or never weres. I don't out of work actors trying to get noticed again but it's not like the show is featuring Oscar or Grammy winners.

You're right. I think it is a way to get yourself some free publicity and to earn a little paycheck as well. Plus if you're really serious about the competition, etc. it is a great way to get in shape and lose weight, tone up, etc. And I think that some of these people make new friendships too.
A lot of the people on the show I had never heard of before I saw them on Dancing with the Stars. So, you have to admit it is a way to get exposure to new audiences that would have never heard of you before.

I would think Cher if available would be there but then who knows maybe it is not her kind of show to attend. These celebs are pretty weird at times.
I know I would make the efforts to support a child of mine, but then if Chaz is this bad, as I have not seen the show maybe Cher knows it and prefers to stay away and or maybe she wanted to be a contestant. lol
As for why Chaz is still competing, this is usually all PR type in the works. They figure it will keep capturing audiences so they cling on for as long as they can to keep people tuning in. Some celebs either are completely oblivious of the lack of talent, there of and or want the TV exposure and don't really care if they are bad or not.

I'm not sure but I think that Chaz has a new book that just came out so that is probably the reason for being on the show in the first place for the publicity. But you're right, I have 4 children and if they were ever in a competition like this I would be there supporting them, no matter how busy I was, just saying.

Chaz said Cher told him she would be in the audience if Chad survived the 3rd week...so she is expected to be in the audience next week. Cher has always been a very strong supporter of Chad in evey area of his life.
I agree with the other comments. He is a horrible and dancer and it goes to show how this is so much a popularity contest. I do give some credit to Chad for putting himself out there as he himself was afraid of the criticism.
I wonder though how he feels when someone he has to know is far superior to him in danicng skills is voted off and he is still there? I know it's the way the game is played..still I think if it were me I'd feel uncomfortable...

Yes, I heard Chaz say that Cher promised to be there if Chaz survived through the third week also. So, I hope she's there in the audience next week.
I just can't believe how awful a dancer Chaz is though considering he's Cher's child. You would think that growing up in a musical family and being exposed to that that you would have a slight amount of musicality or rhythm.

That is exactly why I stopped watching Dancing with the Stars. I do think some maybe need time get the hang of things. I'd imagine the judges have the knowledge of dancing to be able to see who will get better and who won't. But the majority of it is a popularity contest. Sure I'd like to see my favorite celebrity do well, but I wouldn't want them to stay on over a obviously better dancer. I haven't been watching, so I don't know about Cher not being there. It's possible she hasn't been there because she's busy. I doubt many other of the celebrities families are famous themselves so they had time to go.

It's an entertaining show but you're so right - it is partly a popularity contest. If enough "fans" call, text, etc. their votes even the crappiest dancers stay on the show. In the end though usually the better dancer does seem to win but alot of their stiff competition does get elimated as a result of this.

Yep, I mean that Kristen Cavaleri girl that was just elimated was no Ginger Rogers but come on, she was MUCH better than Chaz!
AND, if that were my child out there dancing I would have been in the audience supporting him or her from the very first performance, but that's just me.

I don't watch the show like I used to. Mainly I fast forward through the results show to the end to see who is eliminated. I'll watch the dances, fast forwarding through all the commentary and commercials. I was not surprised to see Chaz remaining and a good dancer going one. Chaz has his activism on his side, the sympathy of the voters. As Len said, it's a travesty that either of those people were even considered in elimination.
I think the show would be much more interesting if the viewers weren't allowed to vote. That turns it into a popularity contest. But they'd lose a lot of viewers--they have to look at their bottom line. So it will continue to be unjust and insult the more talented dancers.
As for where Cher is, that's none of our business. She's a very busy business woman with a lot on her plate. Chaz is not an "it" or a he/she, he is a man that happened to born in a female body at a time we have the medical knowledge to correct such a thing. He's a terrible dancer, though, and should have been off the show by now. The sympathy factor is what keeps him on there.

It is a travesty that those two people were considered in the elimination this week. It is a shame that it boils down to a popularity contest when all is said and done. It's quite unfair.
And did you see the expression on Lacey Schwimmer's face when they announced that Chaz was safe until next week?
Lacey Schwimmer is Chaz's partner. Lacey was in total shock when they said Chaz was safe. Now that says alot when your own partner is literally shocked to hear that announcement. (She didn't have a very good poker face.)
Anyhow, I will continue watching as I love dancing and it is an entertaining show. I just know without a doubt that Chaz Bono is the least talented out of all of stars this season.

Chaz Bono is not anymore and He was pissed! I heard the one of the judges referred to him as a Ewok form the 3rd Star Wars movie! He tried and was on longer then he should of. I think Chasity Bono, now Chaz Bono, looks terrible as a man! I will never understand how it feels to be stuck in the wrong body like he/she was! It is very weird to understand this whole story! Maybe I never will!
