An adult only baby shower?

I've never heard of an adult only baby shower before. My cousin is having a baby shower on Sunday and I just learned that it is adult only. When I asked about it so I wouldn know what time it is so I could find a baby sitter for my kids they said it was because the place is very small and can only hold 53 people.
Have you ever been to an adult only baby shower? I havent. I have been to a baby shower before that was for men and women to come a jack and jill baby shower. I had a jack and jill bridal shower but just a regular women and kids only baby shower.
What do you think of this?

Hahaha, now that IS a new one lol. No, I've never heard it called that before, although I have heard of ones where they only wanted adults present without bringing their children along. ("Adults only"...almost sounds X rated lol.) The ones I went to where kids weren't invited were at homes of older people who simply didn't want to worry about their stuff getting broken (the one had a whole lot of china figurines.) Outside of that, I can imagine there are other reasons (one being that the apartment that it's being held at does not allow children...ever.) Personally, when I have a baby shower, anyone and everyone's children are allowed to come. (And if I have breakables that are precious, I set them up higher where they can't get broke by accident.) It would be interesting to see how many of the invited women will not come because they can't bring their children along with them. I can kind of understand though if the space is limited. Although if it's big enough to hold 53 people, it's by no means a small shower! I have been to a Jack & Jill shower though. The guys had fun, and most of the gifting towards the guys were joke/funny 'daddy' gifts (like tongs to take off the diaper hahaha.)

Haha well no I didnt mean like a baby shower that will have male strippers or anything like that. I just mean the shower will only allow adults and no children because of lack of room. I prefer to just find a larger place so the children would be welcome. Or like you said if the breakables were down low I'd find somewhere to put them for the day.

Yes, some moms will surely find it impossible to attend to a party where kids cannot be brought along. Babysitters are not that plentifully available in the neighborhood at all times. However, so it is said, if there's a will, there's a way.
I agree that the title really makes one curious. I was wondering why it was adult only. Why so? It is a baby shower...

Actually, I don't really think that an adult only baby shower is really all that strange of a thing. When I had the baby shower before my daughter was born, it was an adult only baby shower because of the fact that my grandmother-in-law's house was not big enough to have a lot of people there, and definitely not large enough to have any children running around.
With that said, I also think that baby showers are more fun for the person that is going to have a baby if there are small children at the showers.

If there isnt enough room in the place then I can understand having an adult only baby shower. This is just the first time I've ever been invited to one like that. I've been going to them with my mother since I was young and also going to them on my own with my kids for the past 10 years. I guess its just not very common around here to not allow the children to come. Most the people if the place is small they rent a hall to have it in. But if money is tight then I suppose they wouldnt want to rent a hall just so kids will be able to come as well. Its just hard for the ones who have kids sometimes to find a sitter so the moms can go. I got lucky and my brother in law and his girlfriend said they would watch my kids. It'll only be for about 4 hours.

This is the first time that i have ever heard of such a thing! You got me curious as to what you meant when you typed the title, that is for sure. I said to myself: 'what kind of baby shower could this be'?
Yes, you got me there. My curiosity brought me here though it didn't kill the cat, lol. I understand that the couple who held the baby shower have a very acceptable reason for having done it that way.
Everyone knows that a baby shower will always be a bringer of crowds. Considering that they have such a small place to hold the occasion, it is only logical to make the invited folks feel and understand the situation of the ones holding the occasion. It is actually for the good of everyone who will be coming over. Crashing from the scene the possibility of the discomforts brought about by an overcrowded place.

The person who commented on my discussion before you said the same thing basically that they thought I meant something else when I wrote adult only lol. Well thats the words my mother used when she called me and told me that my uncle told her. She said "Did you know its adult only". I told her no that I hoped I could find a sitter. My brother in law and his girlfriend are going to watch my kids so I can go to it. It will be a lot calmer having no kids running around in there. Yes because the place is so small I can understand them saying just the women. I think men may be allowed as well though and that to me is weird. Id rather have my kids there then men there.
