The old comics from mid-century were the best, don't you think?

I was watching public tv tonight and they had a special of the comics who appeared on the Ed Sullivan show, back in the day. They were clean but made me laugh so hard and still do.
I have DVDs and videos of the old comics and people who had shows like Johnny Carson, Dean Martin, Flip Wilson, Carol Burnett, etc. Oh my gosh, we can watch them for hours and laugh our buttocks off (if only losing weight could be that easy, lol).
So, do any of you have favorite comedians from way back when? Let me know who. Here is a list of ones that I recall....
Albert Brooke
Allen King
Flip Wilson
Red Skelton
Bob Hope
Bob Newhart
Buddy Hackett
Benny Hill
Dickk Gregory
Groucho Marx
George Carlin
George Burns
Henny Youngman
Jack Benny
Carol Burnett
Jackie Vernon
Joey Bishop
Jerry Lewis
Jay Leno
Phylis Diller
Joan Rivers
Robin Willaims
Sammy Davis, Jr.
Moms Mabley
Mort Saul
There are so many more but I cannot think of them all, but all of them were fabulous and never dirty, maybe just some "hints". LOL

hi nanajanet oh you listed all my favorites. just thinking of one movie I think Bob Hope was in it but Phyllis diller was the one who I remember laughing myself silly over . she was on a motorcycle and had a container of catsup and one of mustard
something about stopping these two cops on motor cycles so she just rode up to
them , hi officers zerkee zerkee and squirts catsup and mustard on their goggles .Of course they cannot see and have to stop and clean it all off and the others get away. I do not remember the why of the chase but that one scene was priceless with her politeness then the squirting and her zerkee zerkee. lol lolCarol Burnett and the tall guy she often acted with were favorites too. Bob Newheart too another of my favorite oh and Mary tyler Moore show too.those were wonderful comedy times all clean and just funny.

I like the fact that we can find them on YouTube and other sites, too, and watch them over and over and over. Like Abbot and Costello with "Who's on First..." LOL

nanajanet,
They are my all time favorites as well along with:
Bing Crosby
Eddie Murphy
William "Bud" Abbott and Lou Costello
The Three Stooges "Moe, Larry, and Curly"
I am not sure about the term "dirty" but I think it has something to do with profanity. If that is the case, I am wondering if you've ever watched Robin Williams (Live)- Weapons of Self Destruction. Very witty but be prepared for a no holds barred for every word in the dictionary.

P.S.
For the love of Robin William, this is a recent video of his appearance on American Idols show.

Robin is probably one of the funniest comedians on the earth. No, he was not one of the mid-century comics, I was talking about, but his idol was Johnothan Winters, and if you compare them, you can see where he was inspired by him. That is why it was befitting that he was on their show, Mork and Mindy.

You never saw early George Carlin, and he did clean ones, too. He did one album that was dirty, but he had psychological humor that made you say, "Oh my gosh, so true!!'
