Since last 20 years I have not visited any circus party, the reason is they no more come to our place; I have heard the circus parties are no more because of government restrictions on animals. Here we have observed Durgapuja festival, now is the time for Diwali. There are 2 mini zoos and one mini circus party in the city. They will be here till end of this month. Today in the noon I have visited both with hubby, daughter in law and granddaughter Subhee, she had her birthday recently. She was so excited to see the artists perform in the circus, the jokers were her favorite, and she calls them as cartoons. It was also good that she saw the monkey, one deer, one lamb, one goat, some parrots, pigeons, white rats, there were no real tiger, lions etc, but just their statues made of paper pulp and painted. Hubby used to show her animals and birds molded from plastic to acquaint her with the animal and birds. We have a mini zoo in our city but this summer we shall take her to Nandan kanan, the zoo at Bhubaneswar in my state. Do you visit circus, zoos yourself and take your kids grandkids there? I think it is necessary to widen their knowledge. What is your opinion? Please respond, share and comment. Kalyani God bless you 11/25/2011

Neither my children or myself have ever had the opportunity to visit a circus. However, we all really like to go to the zoo on a yearly basis. We have one zoo in our state that is a little bit over an hour away and we tend to go there the most often. However, we've also been to the zoo in Cincinnati, where most of my family is from. Additionally, when we had a short family vacation a few years ago, we visited the zoo that was there as well. My children love animals so I like the opportunity for them to see animals that aren't native to our area.

I loved taking my daughter to zoos and circuses when she was young. The adelaide zoo is excellent. We even have two pandas there on loan from China. We dont get too many circuses come to Adelaide, I think also due to animal welfare restrcitions, whci I agree with anyway. The circues i did take my daughter too were excellent. But I prefer zoos. We even have the largest open plain xoo in austrlia about one hour from where I live. It has a lot of the large roaming aninmlas. I agree with you that it is important for children to be aqainted with animals.

Its nice you have your celebrations like that. I like also circus and the last one I saw is the Varekai show which was so nice. It was last July and it was seen from people around the world. It is a universal show. I also go to zoos and by next week we might be able to visit another zoo while attending a seminar.

I live in the U.S. in New England, and we have a lot of fairs around here in the summer and early fall. They have tons of animals including elephants, goats, pigs, horses, camels, etc. I often would go with my sisters and nephew there to ride the elephants and everything. I agree that it's a great way to help educate them about animals. I think it also helps ensure that they'll always feel comfortable around animals. I have a few cousins that are terrified of animals, and it's actually quite upsetting. I'm sure introducing young children to animals at events like circuses, fairs, and day trips to zoos help them form a healthy connection with animals.

We have a zoo in our city. There are a lot of animals in there, such as lion ,tiger, peacock, camel, bear ,monkey, giraffe, ostrich, etc. They are from various regions in the world. We often bring our granddaughter there. She is always overwhelmed with joy each time when she sees those animals. The zoo goes a long way to broadening children's knowledge of zoology.
