I have at&t dsl in my mother in laws name. We are getting it turned off and in our name. But we can only switch to this UVERSE. We have to get a new box and it will take 5 business days to get here. I will miss classes. Is there any faster way? Better internet service for a good price?

I have cable internet here, I like it's speed and reliability, but I don't know what that costs in your area compared to DSL.
Are you able to negotiate with AT&T so that they do not turn off the DSL until the Uverse arrives? Since the contract is currently in another name, can you maintain that until the equipment arrives, and is set up?
Just about any new service is going to have a lead time to install the hardware.

The uverse things seems very expensive after the 12 months is up. But it is a no contract agreement thing. I just want to know if it's worth it. I think it's unfair they make new customers upgrade, even though I still have the box and all the stuff to have this dsl. They say I have to get uverse. I have had 2 cell phones with them for over a year now. I am not a "new" customer to them, just internet. It's frustrating. And other services don't seem so wonderful. I do want something that runs fast, I use my internet a lot. Definitely no time limits either lol.

I currently use Verizon Wireless.. it kind of sucks... but it is better than Comcast here, which is the only other ISP here in the city where I live. In NC, they mostly use TimeWarner.

Yep Time Warner will only do an online order if you have a credit card or debit card which I no longer have. Everything looked great too and was just a little more than the Uverse by it's self from AT&T. I was going to get cable which we haven't had for years. We usually watch tv online. I am confused and don't know what to do.

I'm not familiar with at&t dsl as that is not something that is available in our area.
However, I would think that you could sign up for the UVerse service before you discontinue the service that you have right now in your mother-in-law's name. Then when the service is turned on in your name, at that point you could cancel the subscription that you have in your mother-in-law's name. That would be the best way to ensure that you have uninterrupted service.

A gal came to my door the other day trying to sell AT&T UVerse Cable internet and tv. I told her I already had the UVerse DSL and was satisfied with that but this may be a better solution for you as I understand that cable is more reliable than DSL. You may want to check with AT&T on this and see if it can be installed rapidly for a reasonable price.
