Would you take a trip around the world on motorcycle or car?

I recently made a new friend, Elias Vrohidis(http://www.madnomad-en.co.cc/). In his site he gives all the details on his 2 year trip in 14 countries in Asia. He also wrote a book about it and that was the reason we met. I arranged a presentation in my town for him. I am asking this question, because taking a trip like that means leaving everything including all the comforts of home. Don't think that it is easy too. But there is so much freedom in it. When we go on vacation, it means we have to come back. On that kind of trip You have all the time in the world. You choose where and when and deal with your problems in your own time. Would you?????

You are young, a lot younger than me, so you can do a lot of things. I am glad that you can understand what a trip like that means. You have the soul of traveler. Don't dream, start making the dream reality!

I think that a trip like that would be an amazing experience. I would love to travel around for two years and visit a lot of different places. If I had been younger I would have saved up some money and have done the same thing as he did, but today my situation is different. I am married and my husband doesn't like the idea of travelling around for a long time. He likes travelling, but he doesn't want to be away from his home and his family for a long period of time. We also have many pets and that is another reason why it would be difficult to be away from home for such a long period. My husband and I want to visit Asia in the future, but we going to travel for one month or two months instead of a long period of time.

I took a trip around the world by plane when I was 20 to 21 years old. I went to California, Hawaii, Australia, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia. I spent just over one year on my trip of a lifetime.
I wouldn't be able to go over the oceans by car or motorcycle. Therefore a plane is a better way to travel. Most of all I adore traveling by train. I can think of a future trip around the world using trains most of the time and planes only when essential. The journey would begin in England and go via the Trans Siberian Railway route from Russia to China. Then I would catch a plane to Canada and go by trains from Vancouver to Halifax.
I watched a movie called "The Motorcycle Diaries" about a journey across South America. I really enjoyed seeing it.

What you did was great! At 21 I didn't have the mind for a big trip. I wish you can make it to the next!

Your friend is brave and very adventurous! I can only imagine how optimistic he is in taking this kind of trip around Asia! I've thought about taking a trip like this and I would prefer to take a trip with a motorcycle as I do use one right now and I believe that I can handle it better than a car. If it was a trip as long as your friend and with the many countries that he visited, I would have to save enough money for that trip! If you say that it will be sponsored, I can say, I'd like to take up the challenge (^_^) There's a lot to see in the world and to have the opportunity to experience something like this is amazing!

You are right, he is brave. Right now he is getting ready to visit Africa, starting next September. You can write about your trip in magazines. That will get you some income for the trip. You also must have some money before starting. If you think it is possible do it.

I'd probably do it on a car and never on a motorcycle. It is too dangerous to travel on a motorcycle. At least with a car you can be safe if you know how to control your speed and you are extra careful. You can also bring more things with you when you travel by car as against a motorcycle.

There other joys that can be found in motorcycling, but if you don't like them you will not understand what i'm saying.

I think leaving home for that experience is worth it. Not many people will have the chance to experience that. I'll surely take the challenge if given the chance to do the same. Travelling around the world is fun and I can only dream of that for now. I'm planning to go to 5 different countries before I turn 30 and hopefully I can start it next year.

Motorcycle no because I don't have a license for that.
Car might be although I think a trip around the world by car will be way more expensive as walking, taking cheap flight, hitch hiking, taking a ship or train.
If the car breaks down it will take a lot of extra to repair it and their are plenty of people everywhere on the earth who love to steal parts of your car when you are not there but a positive thing is you always have a place to sleep.
I think if I can choose I prefer other ways of travelling the world That way I will see more and have also more contact with other people.

You have contact with a lot of people anyway, because you feel the need. Elias told me that. The question is, would you do it? And not how. Even I think I could do it, but it is not a regular trip.
