Is it safer to do money transfer online than doing it by check and in person, these days? If you wanted to put some money from bank A to bank B, would you feel more safer doing it all online or with your check book and driving over? Why or why not? Have you done the transfer online before... was it safe for you?

My SS check is automatically deposited this way every month. So is my pension. I think they are mighty safe. The banks have just as much info to check if done money transfer or done in person. So if something happens it is easy to check one way or the other. I was alittle paranoid at first but now it seems safe.

I do online transfers from one account to another. Or from PayPal to my bank account.

I don't think there's much difference. If you go in person, the check is put into a computer which is connected to the internet at some point (so it can update online transactions in your account), so what would be the difference? I do bank online and have never had any problem. I bank at my local bank, too, and have never had any problem. Not to say that there never will be, because nothing is absolutely safe, but so far, so good.

Here the personal check is not common. And it is not so convenient to use the check anyway. I feel safe to transfer money online. The bank will provide you a USB key and you need to input the number into your account correctly so that you can deal with your online banking. It has become to be a popular way to transfer money since it is always very crowded in the bank. But if you are really so afraid of it, you can still go to ATM to transfer money to another account. But personally I think this way is very inconvenient.
I love China

Hi Lore
I think it depends on the time and the amount. Normally, here in India, at my place, it takes a hell of a time to get to the counters once at the bank. I many a times dont feel that patient standing in the queues or otherwise to reach to the person at the counter.
The amounts that I normally transact are quite small and so I dont feel scared with the amounts being robbed or anything. But yes, if these amounts would have been higher, I would think about the Online Transfer thing and feel it is safer these days than it was a few years ago. They have integrated SMS Texting of security codes, transaction codes and many banks here in India go with 3-4 stages before completing the Online Transaction Process. Though I haven't tried it anytime, I have seen my Dad and Brother doing this as their banker provide this facility. I have not opted for this facility yet from my Bankers.

Hi friend,
Since all banks can be reach through online banking, I think its safer to transact online.
Just make sure to save copy of the transaction. You can also print the transaction, for you to have a proof of transfer of money..
You earn your money because of your hardwork. And its necessary to manage it the way you want it.
Online banking is more convenient.
